Fair. Siraj can bowl long spells of trash too while raising his game at times.

Srinath pretty much maximized the potential he had at his disposal. Siraj can still be so much better if he achieves some degree of consistency.

Don't think so tbh. He had the potential to be a great bowler. Pace, swing, control he had almost the complete skill set to be a great bowler, top 20-30 all time imo potentially.

Yeah but this is potential, which he had. His performances sadly couldn't do justice to it.

Career of two halves really. He was extremely erratic and frail till about '94. Then he gained some weight, nailed down his action, developed reverse in SC conditions and the ball that held its line. His length never really crept up that extra yard though which is why he always looked great and had batsmen jumping around, but the big hauls never arrived.

Yeah agreed. If he had bowled that little fuller like you said, I think he then justifies the potential he had.
Hopefully siraj does a better job of maximizing his potential, and doing it along side Bumrah, not when he's resting.

Srinath said in an interview that it took him long to figure out the correct length to bowl. Not that much potential to be a great bowler imho.

By potential I meant the a raw skill like pace which can't be taught. He even had swing and reverse swing in his armory. We have seen guys like Ishant adjust their lengths mid career and go fuller. The potential was there imo.

Biggest problem was he was a big teddy bear. If he was half angry as Siraj, i don't want to be facing it.

Remember seeing him visibly shaken when he bloodied some South African on an early tour, Pringle or Snell, not sure. Not dissimilar to your countryman Ratnayake.

Don't discount the fast bowling culture that India have set up in the last decade or so ..
Virat Kohli and management's emphasis on fitness, workload management, technical and tactical support to fast bowlers improved Indian fast bowling a hundred fold ..

He broke Lanka de Silva's nose. But the keeper returned to bat. Never bowled a single bouncer at the injured man. Siraj would have showered bouncers. He is a proper arsehole on cricket pitch.
