Is there a team that can beat this Asian ODI XI?

Just wanted to add that Kapil is surplus to requirements in an ATXI because of Imran and I'd rather have Shakib to get a 2nd spin option or a better bowler like Ashwin.
Or is Imran surplus to requirements because of Kapil

Who, VVS? Does he? I didn't know that. Can't blame him for choosing the peninsula if he had his choice of anywhere on earth tbh.

Kapil Dev is not a lock in an ATG asian XI. As a said earlier, there are several permutations of picking a team. And all of them have their fair share of pros and cons. If 10 people pick a team here, it is likely that 6 will pick him. The propensity of some people to ridicule or mock Kapil or the people who pick him in their team is lolworthy though.

For people who saw him, he was easily better than the stats suggested. The only world class bowler in his side, bowled to the ****ing ground on numerous occasions. And yet lasted way longer than any other bowler in that era.

Nobody is mocking him. It is just that against an all-time XI you need the best pure quality bowling options as possible, and there is no harm in having someone like Shoaib or Ashwin/Kumble ahead of him at 7/8.

For an Asian XI I'd have Sehwag home and Anwar away. Similarly I'd take Sanga at home and Dravid away. Ashwin over Kapil at home and Shakib/Kapil away.

Not true.

Kapil: test career 1978-94 (16 years)
Botham: test career 1977-92 (15 years)
Hadlee: test career 1973-90 (17 years)
Imran: test career 1971-92 (21 years!)

Plus
Procter: 1st class career 1965-89 (24 years!!)
Rice: 1st class career 1970-94 (24 years!!)

A couple of other names who deserved 1-2 mentions are Hanif Mohammad and Mohinder Amarnath. Sure, they are not all that impressive statistically, but given the eras they played and the way they stood up, need some acknowledgement.
