This is still a team that has pulled off wins in Aus and Pak in the last year and some. I'd be livid if we added to their collection by taking them lightly i.e. by resting Bumrah.

Let him statpad a bit. Bumrah's average would be even lower if he statpadded. 87.5% of his matches have been vs SENA

First Test starts on 2nd Oct.
3 day gap.

Unless this event gets cancelled or Bumrah pulls out of it, he is 100% not playing in the first test.

In any case it doesn't make sense him playing tests vs WI when he couldn't even play the all important 5th test vs Eng on a more sporting pitch. He even had 5 days off.

2 tests vs WI (Oct)
LOs tour of Aus (Oct-Nov)
2 Tests vs SA (Nov)
3 ODIs & 5 T20s vs SA (Dec)
3 ODIs & 5 T20s vs NZ (Jan)
T20 WC (Feb)

He will play Asia Cup. Then he will play 2 tests vs SA in November as well as possibly few T20s vs SA in Dec and/or some T20s vs NZ in Jan - as warmup ahead of T20 WC. He will skip all ODIs as well as whiteball tour of Aus. And he looks set to miss tests vs WI, though he may feature in the 2nd test if necessary.

Do you think Bumrah cares about this random benchmark decided by cricket nerds?

I don't see him playing too many tests in the future. He's on 48 tests. He'd have a tough time reaching 60 tests the way he's going and given the lack of tests in the schedule ahead.

BCCI cares very deeply about Asia Cup. They have gone against the entire nation to play in it. So no chance they'll allow Bumrah to skip it, after a month of no cricket in August.
