Still on FM18, dug it back up for a bit of play again.

I'm in 2024 and just seen the news headline linking Gary Monk with the Porto job.

Because life isn't weird enough.

Epic are doing a big market grab atm (aren't they also trying to get out of the Apple tax for iOS development?).

It might be worth considering that before giving them your payment information :whistling

Got the new FM over the weekend.

Playing as Arsenal, top of the league (and unbeaten) with about 10 games to go. Not made any signings.

Anyone could do that if they restarted constantly.
I did it with Billericay Town. Though I did add myself and my mates into the database to play for them. You'd have thought that would have made them worse, given we're all pretty inept, but there may have been a bit of artistic license added in (plus an age reduction of ~20 years).

Randomly, just drew Celtic in the Cup as Albion Rovers and won 7 - 0 at home with Alan Hutton being sent off for Celtic in the 20th minute. I had 7 shots and scored 7 times. Just absolutely bizarre.

EDIT: Perhaps it was because Neil Lennon was insulting me before the match or something.

Even funnier, I drew Rangers at home in the next round and got trounced 4 - 1. Rangers fans would have had an absolute field day with this if it happened in real life.

Sad thing is, with a stadium capacity of 1,600, I made bugger all money from either fixture and would have sacrificed the 7 - 0 for a decent draw and the dosh from a replay. I've got a couple of decent young players, but apparently their value is $4.5k and $6.2k respectively and every Championship team keeps offering me derisory amounts that will not help the long term viability of the Albion project.

Tough gig managing the finances of a tiny Scottish team. Though it does seem reasonably easy to build a team that can boss Scottish League Two and succeed at League One, I think the capacity constraints prevent Albion being any higher than that.

@Furball - I know nothing about Albion Rovers, other than they're a team on the edge of Glasgow. Who would the local rivals be? FM tells me that it's Airdrieonians, but would any Glasgow-ish team constitute a 'rival'? Wiki suggests Motherwell are, despite surely not playing against each other very often.

Albion Rovers are too small for any of the Glasgow teams to be bothered by. Geographically they're not really local to any of the Glasgow clubs either, Coatbridge is a former mining town a few miles to the north east of Glasgow which doesn't put them in the vicinity of any of the Glasgow clubs.

Coatbridge is mainly Catholic as far as demographics go, but I would reckon most of the town actually support Celtic as a result, which means that although Celtic are the closest club geographically there isn't really a rivalry.

Airdrie is the next town over and is also mainly Protestant, so you've got both the 'next town over' local rivalry and also the religious element which adds an edge.

Motherwell and Hamilton will probably also be more minor rivalries due to both clubs being based in Lanarkshire, however both have each other as the main rivalry because they're geographically close.

I may have given myself 20 for First Touch once on an editor once which would be laughable to anyone who has actually seen me play. My trapping range isn't much smaller than my passing range.
