Boycott was the perfect opener in the time he played. AB looks too much like Rowan Atkinson to even consider voting for.

Great comparison - 2 players who couldn't be more different.

Sir Geoffrey was an enigma, wrapped up in a conundrum - technically very very good but put himself above the team. Who else could be dropped after a double hundred for scoring too slow. Who else would have a young Ian Botham sent in to run him out.

But he was a brilliant opening bat.

Then you've got ABDV - what a talent, what a player who should have averaged more than he did. Did he quit test cricket too early - yes.

In the end I went for ABDV - he is as talented a player as its possible to be.
