Two decent picks in one week. One more in the next 14 weeks for each team, and I have doubled my output compared to the past couple of seasons.

Got a pretty wow youth pull this week. Best in ages. With him being RF, sturdy and already having decent power, I'll be training him up to be a bowling all-rounder I reckon. RFs are massively valuable. I'll train fielding until Tech pops to Average and then onto Bowling to start with.

Will you train his batting at all, or leave as is?

I had a spinner who was an ordinary bat and as an experiment once he hit exceptional bowling I put him on batting training until he popped to average, and batted him at 7 (where he always batted tbf). Probably wasn't worth it, and his average of 14 doesn't sound like much but there were a few games where his extra runs really made the difference, including one of his two 50s that got us over the line in a game we had no right winning iirc.

actually I had a very similar player a long while ago. As a YP he was very similar to your player, I think I gave him A/R training until hitting capable batting then focused on bowling. https://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=1315283

I know stats in this game don't mean much as it's all based on where you are in leagues and opposition quality, but low 20s average for bowling and batting made him a solid performer.

I might give a batting boost as some point to even up a technique shortfall or something. Generally though with the fasties or wrist-spinners, I tend to focus on making them bowlers first as they have some advantages over mediums or finger spinners. I might train a RM or RFS differently - more as an all-rounder, but with the RF and already having really good power, I think in this case it's best to focus on the bowling. I reckon I could get a sub-20 bowling average out of him and with reasonable batting already he should average 10-15 with the bat when matured. Experience starting at poor is decent too - really no downsides to this chap. The talents could be better, but having two and both of them being useful. Well, I'm not gonna complain. Possibly my best YP ever.

Got another decent youth recruit, but the talents don't match the skills. Any suggestions on training? I was thinking of hitting up the bowling and getting an all-rounder out of him. Or perhaps just selling, but not sure how much $ he'd make

Yeah don't worry about the skill. If he was gifted bowling (that would train him up from poor quicker) with another bowling skill like NBB or OBB then maybe.

Yeah, I reckon he's too low in bowling to be a genuine all-rounder, especially given the time it takes to get them to a decent level in both main skills plus technique.

It depends on what level you need his skills at to be useful in the Youth league you are in though. I aim for accomplished across all main skills and technique by the time they are 20 as the minimum for an all-rounder to be useful in 1.1. If they have been reliable for a while then they can still do a job until that next pop.

My academy is at a pretty high level, and I get about one pop a season across all skills and technique on all-rounders.

Similar to Heef's dilemma, needed a seam bowler to replace those who will be graduating to senior this season, and I get this:

No bowling skill but a batting one, but RF is always good to have. Decent secondaries to boot so training bowling from ordinary isn't too much of an impact.

Also part of me wants him to sell as now we're out of the cup we'll be operating at a 35k loss weekly (at best) for the rest of the season, and having buffer funds for now and into next season as we continue the long term building plan would be handy - if I could sell him for at least 250k but I don't know if he'd be worth that on the market
