Fastest Triple Century Ever??.... And he's still not out

chris.hinton

International Captain
Tanmay Agarwal is currently not out (End of Day 1) for Hyderabad vs Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy

He's 323 off 160 balls (33 4s and 21 6s)

Hyderabad are 529/1 off 48 overs

Records can still go.... one to keep an eye on

This might eclipse McCartney's one in England in 1921where he made 345 in four and a bit hours. Can’t find a scorecard which shows how many balls he faced though

274 balls faced by Macartney, according to Charles Davis.
221 balls to the 300 apparently.

Marcos Marais (SA) was the previous record holder with 300* off 191 balls for Border vs Eastern Province in the 2017 Sunfoil Cup. (resulted in a draw - 3 day match, 512/4d and 66/2d vs 212)

147 balls for Tanmay. Smashed it. 183 minutes, slightly longer than Compton’s 300 in 1948 which took 181 minutes (261 balls). (over rates were actually decent back then)

Most sixes in a first class innings (26), second most runs (292) off boundaries (first is Lara with 308/501)

Run rate for Hyderabad’s innings (10.33) is the highest in any first class match I believe. Stokes could take a lesson or two. Only one bowler had an economy of less than 8.

Pretty amazing he ended up with 323* at the end of the first day despite his team batting second.

Will he now become the next big thing and replace Gill before being sorted out after 12-18 months and they move onto the next one?

Lemme introduce you to a guy called Pranav Dhanawade
Yogesh Jagtap, the coach of Arya Gurukul, revealed after the match that they had struggled to enter the competition with their main cricket team because of their exams, and therefore his side consistent mostly of 12-year-old students who were selected to play against 15-year-old students. Jagtap said they had also entered the tournament only so they would not be denied future entry. Jagtap also said that some of the children in Arya Gurukul had only ever played with a tennis ball before and were scared of the leather ball. Many were under 12 and much of the boundary was 27m from the wicket.

Lot of excuses.

Possible explanation.
We got Gudakesh Motie out of this same scenario. He debuted at age 9 or 10. It was ugly. The average age of that team was 12

No where but India would this game have actually gone ahead, let alone been allowed to go on for as long as it did. Absolutely brutal
