Don't think so. He was out injured during June and most of July with a broken finger.

I don’t know, perhaps, as I don’t think he was called up at all for the Test team between his debut and the Edgbaston Test

What do England have against Potts? The wording of the article on Cricinfo suggests Atkinson is being lined up for Woakes, so we might see all three out and out seamers being replaced, but if anyone is to miss out, I’d rather it be Overton than Atkinson (fitness permitting) or Tongue, Tongue at least managed to pick up a wicket last week!

The only thing I can say against the inclusion of Potts, is that he's not had a good first class year (averages 38 with the ball). That said, you would have thought they would look for attributes rather than mere stats which over a short period of time are not always helpful.

PS, I definitely wouldn't play Tongue and Overton in the same team.

He’s been bowling at Durham which is flat and short tbf, and Dawson has averaged a tick over 40 in the Championship (granted, he was only brought in once Bashir got injured). Carse has never had stellar FC stats, you’re right that it’s attributes that they’re looking for instead of county stats, but I don’t see what attributes that Potts doesn’t have that wouldn’t make him useful in a squad at least

Looked it up, he only made his white ball debut for England at the end of the last English summer, maybe there is a reason why he wasn’t picked for 2 years before that. Good white ball bowler, but I don’t think he’s Test class

Oh I am in agreement. You would have thought he would be a good choice to take over from Woakes, although I think Woakes will likely play the last game.

Woakes has bowled 167.0 overs. Can he handle another 40 overs? What is the most he has bowled in a series?

He doesn't really have any particular attributes either though?

He is essentially a channel bowler for me and this is less of an asset with little seam movement around. It is hard to make the case for many bowlers to have done that well.

have to agree with this. potts has nothing in his armoury from what i can see that suggests he'll do anything of note at test level.
