England ODI Team

Kweek

Cricketer Of The Year
Pietersen hits it waay harder then or flintoff (i think) and certainly Mascarenhas(get a life :P )
and yes the england selectors are mad..though sometimes they do a good pick Harmison wasnt a great bowler domesticly...but did awesome this summer..though..he's very much out of form now.

Mascarenhas is also a very acurate bowler and i think he could make the step up and be a quality ODI bowler he is definetly worth a try but the selectors seem to be ignoring him. My comments on Colingwood may have been a little harsh but I am not convinced he is a good enough batsman

yes i would tend to agree there, where he isnt terrible he does not really add a great deal to the side asides his fielding, one gets the impression that if there was someone better ti fill that role then collingwood would be ousted

Because of the position in the batting lineup he takes it doesn't matter a great deal if there is a particularly better batsman out there because at no. 6 you don't get a decent bat a lot of the time anyway.

yes i see your point there, but i just get the impression that someone could do a better job there than collingwood, he gives his wicket away to easily in my opinion trying to slog (which he is not capable of doing, not that he needs to in that role) and in a run chase whilst batting second, collingwood is not of enough use in my opinion as he cannot score quickly enough if an acceleration in scoring is needed to match up to the run rate.

i disagree with u mate, with the kind of line-up England could ahve this summer, per say they were chasing a 300 againts a side with Tescothick, strauss could have a good start, Vaughan and coliingwood has i posted before could bat at four because he wouldd be followed by two explosive batsmen in Freddie & KP also blokes like Jones, Gilies & Kabir Ali.I dont know why u people dont see how valuable Collingwood has been for England since making his debut just under 4 years ago, his fielding is superb (the best point fieldsman since rhodes's retirement), while his bowling has was shown in south africa wont be wicketaking but pretty effective

Harmison perhaps.

Its obvious that he is poor batsman, but when he hits it, it stays hit!

ahhhh, right you are mate, but we are looking at batsmen mainly who are capable of some lusty blows, so we cant put the ``durham destroyer`` in that group.

Why not?

I believe the statement was something like "Mascarenhas is the 2nd hardest hitter". It eventually changed to 4th due to Pieterson and Blackwell, but why cant Harmison be included? Just becuase he bats at number 10 or 11 doesnt mean he cant hit the ball hard...

I didnt include Mascarenhas in my suggest side just becasuse he can hit the ball hard i chose him becasue i think he is a quality bowler which a certain mr Blackwell is not

England haven't taken ODIs seriously since the Champions Trophy, where they comfortably made the final when Pietersen wasn't available. It's not really worth taking too much notice of games at the end of a draining tour or ones where the likes of Key were in the team. We'll see how good England really are when the World cup comes around.
