England A in Bangladesh

According to the curator, the pitch should be batting friendly. So, BD-A is planning to pick only two pacers (Sharif, Dollar).

England-A, on the other hand, said they won't consider Kirtley and Gidman for the first four day match, as those two players arrived in Bangladesh just yesterday. Who do guys think will be left out from the rest of the twelve ? My guess- Tom Smith.

Likely Bangladesh-A line-up for the first four day match-

Mehrab Hossain Jr (LHB, SLA)
Jahurul Islam (RHB)
Nasiruddin Faruque (LHB)
*Tushar Imran (RHB, OB)
Marshall Ayub (RHB, LB)
Nadif Chowdhury (RHB)
+Saghir Hossain (RHB)
Mohammad Sharif (RMF, RHB)
Mosharraf Hossain (SLA)
Dollar Mahmud (RMF)
Enamul Haque Jr (SLA)

Bangladesh A 209 (86.5)
Tushar Imran 52, Saghir Hossain 86, Mohammad Sharif 28; Broad 3-35, Onions 2-32
England 0-0 (1)

The classical Bangladeshi collapsed reared its ugly head again and the wickets duly tumbled to leave them 45-5, before steely rearguards from Tushar and the impressive Saghir revived them. If this Mirpur wicket plays anything like what we've seen recently in the DPL, that's probably a par total, although the Daily Star reports there being 'nothing wrong with the surface, rather wrong shot selections.' Yes, we've heard that written about Bangladeshi batsmen before as well. Marshall Ayub apparently miscued a hook early on and Nadif Chowdhury drove recklessly at Smith and was caught behind.

I am a bit surprised by the reckless shot selection by players like Masrhall Ayub, Nasiruddin Faruque. They usually play safe for a while.

I don't think the press were too critical of Nasiruddin though - he just edged behind.

Bangladesh A 209 (86.5)
Tushar Imran 52, Saghir Hossain 86, Mohammad Sharif 28; Broad 3-35, Onions 2-32
England A 268-6 (91)
Jefferson 38, Yardy 34, Carberry 70, Davies 37, Prior 25*, Loudon 21*; Enamul Haque jnr 2-67, Mosharraf Hossain 2-62

A good fightback by Bangladesh A. After conceding 150 run first innings deficit, they showed good rearguard in the second innings. They accumulated runs and at the same time killed valuable time.

After day 3

Bangladesh A 209/10 & 137/1 Over -63; Mehrab 41*,Mosharaf 1* Jahurul 87,
England A 359/10 Over -117

Good batting by Jahurul and Mehrab after first innings poor show.

It seems like Eng 'A' and Bang 'A' are of pretty equal strength, so should be a good series (also the 3 match ODI series)

That's a fair lick we went at.

Prior looking in worryingly decent nick with the bat; have horrible visions of him being called up to the test squad.

Second Four Day Match, at Bogra, 1-4 March

There will be one change in Bangladesh A-team from the last match- Nazmul Hossain is coming in place of Mohammad Sharif who got a stomach bug. Tushar Imran, BD-A captain, is expecting a hard and bouncy pitch in Bogra.

I'm glad Rashids playing for England, I wasn't wild about Yardy and Loudon being our demon spin-twins.

Bangladesh A-team for the one day series is announced. Interestingly, both of the specialist spinners for four day matches, Enamul Jr and Mosharraf, are axed and Manjarul Islam is brought in for one dayers. Other players that got axe are Mohammad Sharif, Ziaur Rahman, and Nasiruddin Faruque.

*Tushar Imran (RHB, OB)
Junaid Siddique (LHB)
Mehrab Hossain Jr (LHB, SLA)

It's a shame that Nasiruddin has been dropped - they probably need a decent number three or four for the one-dayers. Nadif and Marshall is not a combination that I want to see in the middle order.

Saghir Hossain - is he gradually nudging ahead of Khaled Mashud as the country's number two keeper?

Second test ended in a draw.

Brief match report from my blog-

Tushar Imran Leads the Fightback to Draw the Second A Team Test

Captain Tushar Imrans patient knock of 126* ensured a draw for Bangladesh A in the second unofficial test match at Bogra. Rain washed out the play of the first day. Earlier, England A utilized the damp condition and bundled out Bangladesh A for paltry 152 runs. England A seized the opportunity and posted 251/8 at the end of day 3. Nick Compton continued his fine form and scored a classy 92 run to lead the charge.

England A declared overnight with a lead of 99 runs. At the beginning of Day 4, Graham Onions took to early wickets to put England A in firm command of the match. Captain Tushar Imran and one down batsman Nasiruudin Faruque rescued Bangladesh A with a valuable 127 run partnership. After losing Faruque for 31 runs, Tushar Imran continued to demoralize English attack despite regular wicket fall from the other end. His endurane finally gave the timely reward and the match ended in a draw.

England A won the first test by wickets and win the series 1-0.

Brief Score

Bangladesh A 152/10; Sagir Hossain 47, Enamul Jr. 24 ; Stuart Broad 4/72, Tim Bresnan 2/24 & 218/6 Over -84 ; Nasiruddin Faruque 31, Tushar Imran 126*; Tim Bresnan 2/36, Graham Onions 2/53
