I think Lillee overcoming stress fractures of his back and coming back a better bowler to me is a great testament to his determination and why he was revered so much.

The timing of Sachin Tendulkar’s rise played a massive role in his unmatched popularity

Beyond his talent, Sachin Tendulkar’s popularity soared because the 1990s was the decade when television entered the average Indian household.

Post-liberalization India was hungry for icons, someone to root for on the global stage. Sachin was humble and fearless and fit that need perfectly. He became a symbol of hope at a time when India was still shedding the weight of a closed economy and conservative mindset. His achievements made him a legend but it was his rise coinciding with the birth of a new India endearing him to tens of millions of people made him a demigod.

Why is Dennis Lillee credited with revolutionising fast bowling when greats like Ray Lindwall and Fred Trueman had already set high standards?

What makes Lillee stand out as the OG of modern fast bowling despite earlier legends achieving similar success? How did Lillee’s impact on fast bowling go beyond what was done by post-war icons like Ray Lindwall, Alan Davidson and Fred Trueman?

Just curious.
TV and personality.
