Best knock by a tailender?

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Given the date and opposition, there's plenty to be cynical about that innings...
Yeah, no. We were 102/7 when he came to the crease. His no-balls were lacking any sort of discretion but Amir was on fire that day, more is the pity really. It was a fine innings from Broad.

Alex Tudor's random ATG innings
Yup, that's the one for me.

Low scoring game in conditions that were helpful for the bowlers, but his unbeaten 99 after coming in as night-watchman made a difficult 4th innings chase an absolute doddle. I say he was a night-watchman, but the scorecard suggests that maybe he was simply promoted to number 3 after our horror show in the first innings.

Saw Dizzy talking about it and saying he was mentally noting all the noted batsman’s highest scores he was passing on his way to 200. “MWaugh at 140 something, tick”. Funny stuff

If your after genuine tail enders (not near all-rounders like Johnson Warne or Vass) then surely Dale Steyn 76 Vs Aus after he came in 8 down 150 behind in the first innings rates a mention, was definitely fairly crushing as an Aussie after the Waca Test.
Yeah that will surely be near or at the top.

Not the best ever, but Daffy's 2nd innings 88 is worth a mention, and a rare highlight in another dismal tour down under. Back in the good old days when we actually won a dead rubber in these series, which wouldn't have happened without this knock.

This knock by an obscure cricketer called Ted Alletson in an FC game is pretty cool. As a number 9 coming in at 185-7 in the third innings (only 8 runs ahead overall) , he scored 189 in 90 minutes with 23 fours and 8 sixes. This is basically the only notable performance of in his career since he only averaged 18 with the bat. He also took only 33 wickets in 119 matches so no idea why he was even batting at 9. He may have been picked as a lower middle order batsman, but it's not clear from his profile.

I will hazard a guess. They had to field eleven players and he was always available.
