I loved Raina's fielding too. Pretty much in the top 3 best fielders ever for India. Have heard a lot about Eknath Solkar's fielding too but never seen. Not sure if there is footage.

Solkar may be the greatest short-leg fielder there has been in international cricket. He stood close then actually looked to move forward when the ball was delivered, terrorising batsmen unsure of their footwork against the Indian spinners. Other outstanding ones were Lock and Davidson.

Hemu Adhikari, also one of India's best-ever fielders, was manager of the team when Solkar played and insisted on improved fitness and fielding. Another very good fielder in that side was Abid Ali.

Raina and Ravindra Jadeja were probably as good as any Indians in the outfield.

Whatever it takes!!!
If we sneak in Ravi Jadeja to the Indian ATG ODI XI somehow, they will have one heck of a fielding line up.

Upul Chandana was the best ground fielder. Very quick to ball and a rocket arm. Mahanama more or less in side circle catcher than an out fielder, He did take some ridiculously difficult catches in outfield for his credit.

Murali wasn't too shabby either in his younger days.

Roger Harper's runout of Gooch on YouTube is perhaps the best bit of fielding of all time (although many would claim the Jonty superman dive). Mathew Sinclair's catch (Hayden) is up there too.
