Best and Worst International Debut's

In One Dayers..
Haynes with 148 runs and Fidel Edwards with 6 for 22 have statistically the best debut ever.

For worst, one need not look beyond David Colley and Alan Connolly. These two Aussies gave away 72 and 62 runs in 11 and 8 overs respectively, did not take any cathces and also managed to score a blob each !

Someone who carried his 'form' over a longer duration was Marlon Black of West Indies who in 5 one dayers scored a grand total of 4 runs and his bowling read 38 overs, 1 maiden, 196 runs NO wickets.

I wonder why he spoilt such an outstanding record with that one maiden over ?

Best debut recently was Alistair Cook's against India - a young lad playing his first ever game for England, in searing heat and the England cricket team starting to wobble, He scored a 50 in his first innings and 100 in his second innings, giving England a great platform but they couldnt take the last four wickets due to bad light

NO bad one's that havent been mentioned have come to my mind yet

The worst bowling on debut in a test
This a bit more difficult to find but watch this space :)
Was it Kulkarni who took a wicket 1st ball then nothing else as SL ran up 900+?

Surprised no one has mentioned Ken Rutherford as well.

Must have had one of the worst starts to international Test cricket ever with scores of:

Yep. A brilliant performance of 1-195 from 70 overs.

In test matches, as many as 14 players have bagged a pair in their debut match starting with GF Grace in 1888 and ending (so far) with Fernando of Sri Lanka in 2002. This is not including tail enders. All of them batted between 1-7 in the batting order.

Of these some had occasion to contribute something to the team's cause.
- Christopher Kugleijn and Dirk Viljoen of South Africa took a wicket each and the first named even took a catch besides

And what a catch Kuggeleijn's was. Not so much the difficulty, but his catch gave Hadlee the world record for most test wickets.

Rodney Redmond was a famous one-test NZ cricketer. Scored 107 and 56 against Pakistan and he never played test cricket for NZ again.

Lou Vincent. A hundred and a 50. Good debut.

Bond had a bad debut, you could say. Took one wicket (Steve Waugh for a duck) for about 100 runs?
He didn't bowl too badly though, impressed a few people and did enough to warrant inclusion in the VB Series where he was superb.

Best - Michael Clarke, outstanding debut under the circumstances on a Bangalore wicket against a might7y fine attack coming in to replace the Australian captain. They were desperate to win their first series in India for...32 years?

Worst - Atapattu.

I can't believe people forgot about Miandad's 163 on debut vs NZL, made a 281 run partnership with Asif Iqbal to save Pakistan.

It wasn't. His debut was in the final test of the series and he played several tests after that during the following season.
