Just wondering who has been the best 1st Class Allrounder that played after 1950:
I’ve set the minimums at 10,000 runs @ > 30.00 and 500 wkts @ < 30.00 and have come up with the following 12 names (in order of games played):
Trevor Bailey: 682 games, 28,641 runs @ 33.42 --- 2,082 wkts @ 23.13
Clive Rice: 482 games, 26,331 runs @ 40.95 --- 930 wkts @ 22.49
Ian Botham: 402 games, 19,399 runs @ 33.97 --- 1,172 wkts @ 27.22
Mike Procter: 401 games, 21,936 runs @ 36.01 --- 1,417 wkts @ 19.53
Gary Sobers: 383 games, 28,314 runs @ 54.87 --- 1,043 wkts @ 27.74
Imran Khan: 382 games, 17,771 runs @ 36.79 --- 1,287 wkts @ 22.32
Tony Greig: 350 games, 16,660 runs @ 31.19 --- 856 wkts @ 28.85
Richard Hadlee: 342 games, 12,052 runs @ 31.71 --- 1,490 wkts @ 18.11
Kapil Dev: 275 games, 11,356 runs @ 32.91 --- 835 wkts @ 27.09
Richie Benaud: 259 games, 11,719 runs @ 36.50 --- 945 wkts @ 24.73
Keith Miller: 226 games, 14,183 runs @ 48.90 --- 497 wkts @ 22.30 (close enough)
Chris Cairns: 217 games, 10,702 runs @ 35.32 --- 647 wkts @ 28.31
I’m thinking Mike Procter, however I’m sure you all have your own opinions….cue Sobers/Imran debate…remember I’m talking 1st class cricketer, not test
Edit: As correctly pointed out, I missed Clive Rice....now added as is Tony Greig
