If it helps I have him right there with Davidson. The lack of Lindwall love is disgusting, it only comes out against one or two specific guys ffs.
Cummins or LilleeIf it helps I have him right there with Davidson.
It's because all the people who idolise big strong macho men voted for Lillee. So the Lindwall row is just the various weirdos who can see past he who is worse than Hoggard but contra-contrarianly don't lean to Davo. The lack of Lindwall love is disgusting, it only comes out against one or two specific guys ffs.
Now that you say it, Lillee does look like the quintessential 1970s pornstarIt's because all the people who idolise big strong macho men voted for Lillee. So the Lindwall row is just the various weirdos who can see past he who is worse than Hoggard but contra-contrarianly don't lean to Davo.
I’ll decide when Cummins finishesCummins or Lillee
What do you think makes Lillee easily superior to Lindwall btw?Lillee easily. Let's wait until Cummins gets to 300 before we can compare him.
Relatively higher peer status. Superior wickettaking penetration. What do you think makes Lillee easily superior to Lindwall btw?
I don't think first is true, second is true.Relatively higher peer status. Superior wickettaking penetration.
Lillee was a fast bowler even players of Ljndwalls time rated highly. Bradman, Benaud, Bird and others had him in the XI. In the ESPN and Wisdens lists he was the highest rated pacer. In the Cricinfo selection he got more points than both Marshall and Wasim. No pacer has his peer rating.I don't think first is true, second is true.
Miller and Lindwall had a stranglehold over the opening positions.anyone knows why Davo became full time so late in December of 1957 and bowed out in February of 1963? Lindwall was past it after 1953 and unlike Barrington has fantastic domestic numbers from 1950-56.
Hm, I see, and any idea on why he ended up retiring/leaving Cricket at 33?Miller and Lindwall had a stranglehold over the opening positions.
No. He was still in great form and continued to work in cricket as an administrator iirc. I guess just “personal”. @peterhrt would be the likely person to know.Hm, I see, and any idea on why he ended up retiring/leaving Cricket at 33?
Davidson gave family and business as the reasons for retiring. His full-time job was paying customers' money in and out for the Commonwealth Bank (known as a teller in Australia). It seems he had many interests outside cricket and also put a lot back into the game through administration. In those days there were fewer coaching opportunities and far less media work. Many cricketers had to look outside the game to secure their livelihoods and couldn't always risk leaving it too long.No. He was still in great form and continued to work in cricket as an administrator iirc.
