So what's everyone's thoughts on Hardie as a future allrounder?
If green didn't exist and we had a keeper who could bat 6 reckon he'de be a perfect test #7, but don't think he's good enough with the bat to be a top 6 batsmen or quick enough to be a front-line test bowler.

Has a bit of a Sam Curran factor about him though, has dismissed Joe root twice, Kohli once and made a hundred against a grade attack featuring Cummins and haze.

Something about WA and producing tall fast bowling all rounders. Green, Marsh and Hardie all in the same team would be something

Ironically I think Green's presence makes playing someone like Hardie more plausible. If you've got a Top 6 bat who's in your 4 best bowlers then I think picking a bowling all-rounder makes some sense, especially if there's not a great wicket-keeper around and he's got some troll X-factor.

Good point.

Green is not in Australia's best 4 bowlers though and probably never will be, neither will Hardie. For both to play together you have to leave out one of your best 3 quicks and that's just not a good game plan.

If Green could genuinely become as good a bowler as Hazlewood then it's possible but that's unlikely

victoria playing the price for showing no urge whatsoever to get the lead on first innings. extremely bizarre stuff imo

Ehhh, he's still only 22 and Hazlewood, Starc and Boland are already over 30. I think there'll be a point assuming his current development continues that he genuinely could, especially given the rest of our U25 bowling stocks is pretty poor.

Absolutely spot on. I was watching it live and completely flabbergasted. It was so clear that it would basically decide the game but they didn't even try to go for it.

Congrats to WA for winning their first Sheffield Shield in over 20 years.

Interesting stat about WA's Shield drought; in a six-team comp they haven't finished bottom once since their last win; in fact, they haven't finished bottom of the table for almost 50 years.

2022/23 contracts are out. Richardson misses out, which is ridiculous.

Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner, Adam Zampa

I mean jhye missing out is rough but who does he replace on this list? Agar is gonna be in every squad now till next home summer, and swepson benifits from it being a SC tour cycle.

My thoughts are similar. On the face of it, it seems crazy that Jhye hasn't got a contract given he's one of the best 4 (possibly even 3) bowlers in the country, in all formats. Factors that may have counted against him are his constant injuries, the arrival of Scott Boland and the all-formats nature of contracts now with so many specialists that only play 1 or 2 formats needing looking after
