Australian domestic season 2021/22

Cricketer Of The Year
Think it's more time of year isn't it? Few of the qld boys on other forums where talking about how the pre-december gabba deck is completely different to the post december gabba deck and how it flattens out with the weather changes around that time. They played a first class game at the gabba later in the season last year and it was an absolute road, green made 250 and most of the qld top 7 got in the runs if memory serves.

Yeah I think Aus have gotten pretty lucky that the whole Ashes series has been pushed back a few weeks. Had they started a Test late this month as usual, with the general weather this year it would have been a real crapshoot what the pitch would be like.

Usman's 29* honestly deserves pretty decent merit points given the deck and the attack.

**** I hate La Nina summers in Australia. Ruin cricket seasons, make for **** holiday weather and it isn't like the farmers are actually happy with the rain, because they're inherently miserable ****s who haven't had a collective smile since 1958.

Interestingly 2010-11 was also a La Nina summer. Omen for England?

How about analysing whether England's overseas Ashes wins coincide with La Nina events favouring their traditional style of play and making the weather more comfortable for them?

Really? It's just another Shield match for the Pillow. Good knock but it's not TOTAB 1984 WI stuff, let's be honest. I would be picking him to open. though. Principally because the others in the running are proven spuds at test level.

Fantastic to see Bancroft miss out again.

How about no?

So right after the commentators went on about how fit Shaun Marsh is and age is just a number and he could play for years, on cue he has retired hurt by pulling a muscle walking around the crease

it seems Abbott has sorta played this off as a jokey "yay road trip" but this thing is so absurd, and pretty clearly putting not wanting to annoy the QLD government above the health and safety of the players.

In a sign of how firm a hold COVID-19 still has on the game, the NSW pair [Abbott & Lyon]made the 878-kilometre drive from Melbourne to Sydney on Tuesday after being told they could not take a commercial flight home due to Cricket Australia’s biosecurity protocols.

Cricket officials are not taking any risks in ensuring the country’s Test stars can get from so-called “dirty states” Victoria and NSW into Queensland to prepare for the start of Australia’s Ashes defence.

Lyon and Abbott could not play in NSW’s one-day game against Victoria on Friday after the Blues called up players from outside their Shield squad who had been living under different COVID conditions in Sydney.

So it sounds like CA have come down hard on Patto. Suspended for a game.
Did he have previous infractions carrying it over? one of the guys suspended last season (cant remember who) for abuse got it just because it was a second offence

it's a joke because the guy should have been kicked out of the game then and there, which is a rule cricket australia is free to implement. and that seems much more appropriate than letting him play out the game, and then be suspended for an OD game which I doubt James Pattinson has any interest in playing anyway

The NSW Second XI to play Victoria Second XI next Monday: J.Baraba, O.Davies, B.Dwarshuis, C. Green, R.Hackney, L. Hearne, B. Holt, H. Kerr, A. Nair, D. Solway, C. Tremain, H. Verma.

A couple of names there that could put pressure on underperforming bums in the first XI BUT the selectors need to come to the party.

literally the only interesting name there is Chris Green, because if NSW is gonna get kicked around, it can at least look good

Wildermuth opening over Steketee is an interesting choice considering that latter's recent performances (that Steketee is currently going at 4.8 is neither here nor there).

@Cool Howie thanks for reminding me of Tremain dynamiting his professional career by moving back to competition heavy NSW just as Siddle decided to pack it in for Vics. Speaking of people who were in the wilderness, Sandhu's return to seemingly being a Shield regular is ITSTL.

False. Tremain is better than Conway and only slightly older for example. If Goofy Harry doesn't perform soon, fade him.

Surprised they haven't washed their hands of Baraba...

So I heard an interview with Mises on the radio this morning and he was saying he's right to play the next Shield match but because Lyon and Dermo Sabba Abbott were in the NSW squad for the first couple of games he wasn't allowed to mix with them, as he'd just come back from OS and the CA protocols meant those blokes couldn't be exposed to the risk of infection from him.

Even though you no longer need to quarantine and he's double vaxxed.

They never should have let QLD keep the test match

Like, Cricket Australia's policy does make sense. But if those are the precautions you need to go through to make sure QLD doesn't **** you at the border...maybe just don't play in QLD?
