It's not kicks. Opposition to Ashwin was based on overvaluing of home record. Opposition to Kallis was based on his lack of extra great. Opposition ot Ambrose was based on wicket penetration.

It's usually based on some fundamental difference with others on how these aspects of cricket are viewed.

Yeah I accept that your views are genuine from your pov but you don't accept when people explain you the logic of why you are wrong in some cases. Most people don't accept that they are wrong (Flower's keeping for me a case in point) but you never do which riles people.

Back to the topic, Imo Ashwin and Jadeja are so obviously better than Kumble and easily get into India atg XI over him with bowling being equal, batting and fielding far above. I dont think Kumble or any other spinner would have fared much better than Ash-Jaddu in the pitches they got away from home but you are never going to accept that point. There is a reason why most India opposition went with 4 pacers and no spinner at their home. And India too sometimes dropped both Ash-Jaddu on those pitches.

You bringing up percentage of matches played away for Kumble vis-a-vis Ashwin and Jadeja is such a lame point when his competition is Harbhajan Singh and pitch rigging was also not so blatant those days. Both you and I know that it is not a fair point.

Indian pace unit has been very good in the last 10 years and Ashwin/Jadeja did not only compete with Pacers but also with each other. Playing percentage of away games does not tell much when comparing with Kumble.

Indian pace attack away during Kumble time: avg 36 anf SR 69 [ Kumble, Jadeja and Ashwin, all would have played here. Kumble playing more is not huge positive for him when comparing with other spinners ]

Indian pace attack away last 10 years period: Avg 26 and SR 48

There seems to be a fallacy that Ashwin and Jadeja just played on rank turners at home. That may be the case since 2020, and the occasional single test in a series, but those pitches till about 2020 weren’t rank turners at all.

Visiting spinners in India since Ashwin debuted till 2020 averaged 44 runs per wicket. On rank turners, no batting side is going to average 44 runs per wickets against spin. Ashwin/Jadeja both played 35-45 tests in India in that period with avg of 21-22.

I think some fans vastly under rate Ashwin/Jadeja or over rate Kumble. For me, Ashwin/Jadeja both will play over Kumble on any surface. Both were no way inferior to Kumble and then you get their batting as well.
