We export the less good stuff mostly to Indonesia though.Not sure what the percentage would be but the vast majority of that exported beef would be the grain fed Queensland Brahman cattle........and it's ****.
The Southern grass fed beef here though is generally superb.

There is a meat importer in my city that actually goes out of their way to advertise that their Aus beef is grain fed. The driest continent on the planet, a large chunk of Aus coming out of a 4 year drought........you better believe that happens here. The farmers here in Vic (that can afford to) supplement with hay feed though so the quality of beef doesn't suffer too much.Extremely dry land grass cattle is a bit horrible if not supplemented with grain. The cows end up over walked and underfed, as well as the fact that they can get old before getting properly sized. Extremely tough meat. I doubt this happens much in Aus though. Might be a case of some importers finding the worst meat in Aus and dumping it here, which turned people off the idea of Aus grass fed.
Yesss, Ill go this unless i decide to go just 2 sauces which is garlic and usually hot chilli.I find the optimal source combo when ordering a lamb HSP is garlic, hot chilli and bbq. Give it a try sometime.
