All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

IIRC, someone tried it that way once and the results were horrible.
Yeah in this case it would've ended up with Imran (consensus 4th pick) being picked at #8 first due to Hadlee's vote being split, and then Hadlee and McGrath (consensus 2nd and 3rd picks) would have to duke it out for the 3rd pace bowler slot.

It's a fantastic way to get Imran in though.

Lloyd chose the four pace attack after India chased 400+. Even if Warne or Murali played against us, not much difference.
It's my suspicion as well, that four ATG pacers will annihilate opposition more than with a spinner. But spinners are very more useful in the right conditions and for dog overs.

To be frank, it's not to get Imran in.

It's more that the final XI actually reflects the will of the voters.

I did this same system of connecting the position to the spot in the XI for selecting the ATG ODI XI and I think most were satisfied.

India is the best place for spinners.

India with Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag and Ganguly were easily able to handle 2 ATG spinners.

An ATG batting lineup would most likely play them with ease and have more difficulty playing great fast bowlers.
