- Select the South Africa B XI number 3 and number 4 bats
- Select a spinner or third quick for the SA B XI.

We'll get a split here of those taking an entire career into account vs those considering just the test career.... If Jimmy Cook can be placed this highy because of his exploits during the apartheid era then it seems illogical to exclude van der Bijl, le Roux and Rice.

McGlew,
Cullinan
Vogler

J. Cook, P.Kirsten, Irvine were world class and Kuiper also not far off. I agree that they not far off qualifying like others. I think if we go 8/9 capped teams then we need to go with an uncapped team or 2

Fotheringham
Pienaar
Ackerman
McEwan
McKenzie
Rice (c)
Jennings (wk)
Kourie
Le Roux
Van der Bijl
Hanley

To get a 2nd uncapped XI is tougher as players like Cook, Kirsten, Kuiper and even Lamb, Wessels, Greig were capped for top 6

There was no denying the quality of Peter Swart (all-rounder), leg-spinner Denys Hobson and quicks Kenny Watson, Stephen Jefferies and Corrie van Zyl though. They all deserve mentioning.

How about Howie Bergins and Winston Carelse?

I was actually trying to put together a team from the SACBOC too.

Before the Howa you had Krom Hendricks, Gesant & Salie Abed , Frank Roro, Eric Petersen & Owen Williams

You start considering names like Khaya Majola, Haroon Lorgat, Saait Magiet, Cecil Abrahams, Lefty Adams, Vinnie Barnes , Yacoob Omar, Ruschdi Magiet, Jack Manack

Wisden - Setting the records straight

We can always chat about doing XI ideally based on more than just stats.
