Over Taylor is a good stance, not sold on over Lilley since think Lilley is a comparable bat, worse but close.

Yeah but Lilley isn't necessarily the much better wicket keeper though, with him being criticized a bit in his era for standing back to Richardson iirc

Richardson was Fast, it was for slower ones like Lohmann. Still, he used to be rated the best English Pure Keeper till Evans, and his cricinfo bio describes him as "there have been flashier ones but none surer to grab a catch than Lilley".

I think there were a couple rated higher. Wisden rated Richard Pilling higher at the time I believe.

Wisden said Lilley had no superior as a wicket-keeper against slow and medium pace bowling, but they criticised his strategy of standing back to fast bowling and commented: "he cannot be placed on quite the same level as Blackham, Mr McGregor, or the late Richard Pilling".
