A method to determine the world's best batsman across all formats

Hang on, so were saying that the best player is the person with the lowest score (nearest the perfect 6)?

Were also saying each format has a weighting, so by being no 2 in tests you get 2 penalty points * 3 =6, but no 2 in T20 you get 2 penalty points * 1 = 2. Basically you are saying being higher ranked in T20 makes you a better player, and being high ranked in tests is nowhere near as valuable, even as ODIs

Are you actually saying that Test cricket is the vast inferior format when it comes to judging a players prowess?

Have you actually thought through the maths on this before you posted?

Did you actually just...... ........ just..... ....... .......

Hahaha, I wondered if I was just going completely mad when I noticed that.

Also, guys, quit trolling the newbie please, as amusing a pastime as it may be.

What? No, it's the exact opposite of that.

A player who is 5th in Tests and 15th in T20s would have 30 penalty points.
A player who is 15th in Tests and 5th in T20s would have 50 penalty points.

Ergo, the Test specialist is better.

sachin NEVER won da big games like Afridi and SCARED of facing Shoaib AKThAR

For me sachin is not gud match winner like king of sixers AFRIDI
Should I then assume you were on Mars or something during the 2003 WC and have only just returned.

Also what are you talking about, big matches. Matches don't get bigger than India vs Pakistan in a world cup. Sachin played in 5 of those ('92, '96, '99, '03 and '11) and not only won all 5 of them, but in 3 out of 5 ('92, '03 and '11) he was the man of the match.

I think his ability to win big matches can't be better documented. Played in 5 of the biggest games in cricket, won all 5 and MoTM in 3 of them. While giving the bowler you say he was afraid to face the hammering of a lifetime in one of those 5.

You are free to disagree, but then it becomes a case of your opinion vs facts. You are welcome to your opinion, but I will take the facts anyday.

I hate to burst peoples' bubbles (well, I don't, actually) but you are being taken for a ride here.

a ride on the harsh truths train about sachin flopdulkar
I see that I will be meeting a lot of people like you here ... I will enjoy ripping you lot apart. So are you going to just rant or are you actually going to deny any of what I wrote earlier about Sachin being MoTM in 3 of the 5 biggest cricketing matches ever !!

What can you possibly say, that the matches didnt take place or that Sachin didn;t win all of them, or that he wasn't the MoTM in 3 out of 5 of those games.

Waiting eagerly.

Big matches are matches played on BIG grounds like MCG

Sachin never made runs in BIG grounds cos he cant hit sixers in big grounds like AFRIDI but only succeed in mini cricket grounds like Eden park

That Sachin was no Grant Elliot is a distinction that cannot be started hard enough :D
i agree. did sachin ever hit steyn for six in a world cup semi final in a country where the ball swings? i didn't think so. FLOPDULKAR is a flat track bully fit for only meaningless test matches.

Yes that would be so true if Sachin had never scored any runs on any ground apart from Eden park. So close, but facts again get in the way of your opinion.

Flopdulkar, that's good. I will have to remember this. Can't believe I never thought of it before.

I agree, now if something as specific as hitting a specific bowler for a six on the smallest ground in the world with school boy boundaries actually meant anything.

Shows how thick you are. Take a negative n letter word and replace the first n letters of the name of the person you don't like with this n letter word and viola !! Doesnt take a lot of thought (something you people specialise in) to come up with something like that..
