Let's goooooo
yeah with the full over at the confident akash, spinners with an attacking field i reckon would be a chance of a breakthroughEngland should do a few overs of spin here for sure. Give the quicks a break until after lunch. And you may get a wicket or two as well if India try to over attack. Bring the quicks back if there is a new batsman in.
Would be surprised if we see Dawson again and he looked toothless in the last Test, but he’d at least have been able to hold up an end and give the seamers a rest. You definitely don’t go into a Test assuming that your experienced seamer who can bowl all day will get injured chasing a ball to the boundary, but you should always have a spinner, and as I say, I think Dawson would have been fine for number 7, especially with our supposed batting depthThis is what p**** me off most about the way we go about batting. 51 overs we batted first dig. They were basically on the field at the start then the end of the day. Scoring at 4-5 an over is all very well but we are killing our bowlers at times by not giving them a rest. Not helped by Woakes already being off and having Joverton and no (decent) spin option.
It's crying out for a spinner atm!England should do a few overs of spin here for sure. Give the quicks a break until after lunch. And you may get a wicket or two as well if India try to over attack. Bring the quicks back if there is a new batsman in.
i felt the same here, he bowled very very well and got really unlucky not to take a big haulI remember thinking during last year's nz tour of India that Deep was a bit special. Thrilled to see him go so well this tour.
Dawson would have been the classic 80's era pick. The 30 overs a day, hold an end type. See Miller, Emburey etc. County all-rounder who can do a job at 7-8 etc.Would be surprised if we see Dawson again and he looked toothless in the last Test, but he’d at least have been able to hold up an end and give the seamers a rest. I don't think the England hierarchy fancy Dawson.Would be surprised if we see Dawson again and he looked toothless in the last Test, but he’d at least have been able to hold up an end and give the seamers a rest. Agreed - more an 8 but take your pointDawson would have been the classic 80's era pick. The 30 overs a day, hold an end type. See Miller, Emburey etc. County all-rounder who can do a job at 7-8 etc.
Yeah he basically got Smith out 4 times in 1 innings when he was batting well. His fitness and his skillset beyond the newball have been the question marks, really.i felt the same here, he bowled very very well and got really unlucky not to take a big haul
I don’t think England have holding up an end at the forefront of their minds at the moment, now after the last two games Rehan Ahmed has had recently it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s jumped past Dawson in the reckoningDawson would have been the classic 80's era pick. Not now definitely!I don't think the England hierarchy fancy Dawson.
