5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Hardly had any cricket and coming back from injury but you would like to think it wouldn't drop this early on.
TBF next two balls where 135. Still concerning though. Atkinson doesn't move the ball enough consistently enough to be operating at 128-135. Needs to be 135-145.

Broad just said that Atkinson bowled 21 overs in the first innings then had a 50 over break and has now bowled 12 overs

Tbf he’s had precious little rest from the first innings
This is what p**** me off most about the way we go about batting. 51 overs we batted first dig. They were basically on the field at the start then the end of the day. Scoring at 4-5 an over is all very well but we are killing our bowlers at times by not giving them a rest. Not helped by Woakes already being off and having Joverton and no (decent) spin option.

wouldn't surprise me if shubman begins a bit shaky when he does get out there. he would have been mentally expecting to be out there for the better part of an hour now

England should do a few overs of spin here for sure. Give the quicks a break until after lunch. And you may get a wicket or two as well if India try to over attack. Bring the quicks back if there is a new batsman in.

Don't fret. You'll only have to put up with this dross for another 6 months or so. It will be a classic ECB reset post the 4-0 thrashing in the Ashes.
