4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Tbf in this game it's the second bowler quality that's been the difference (and Bumrah bowled as poorly as I've ever seen him bowl too)
Yeah on the bit in brackets - I was with my brother in law yesterday whose firm did up a new hospitality box in OT. He likes cricket casually but no more. I really hyped Bumrah up to him on the way there and he must have wondered what I was on about when we actually watched him.

Were you in hospitality? I had a mate who went yesterday who has virtually zero interest in cricket, he was sticking videos on the whatsapp of various ex players being interviewed at lunchtime. Literally no one was listening to Gower, they're all on their phones.

Yeah I was. And in the room I was in it certainly appeared everyone was listening to Gower. Wonder if he also went into the Emirates Lounge

On closer inspection seems like more were listening to Gower than I first thought. Here’s a picture of where he was, same room maybe?

that didn't last very long tho. he's spent the vast majority of his england career operating in the low to mid 80s. which is fine, you don't need to be express.
It was against Sri Lanka last summer that his pace started to drop, I feel he could have been managed a bit better as he played a lot last year and has been playing through various niggles

If India had held onto their catches in the 1st Test, England would need 500+ in the 4th innings.
Yeah but tbf catching is an aspect of cricket, just like batting or bowling. We’ve been using it as a crutch to kinda say hey we should’ve won the first Test, but in a way it’s like saying we should’ve won the third test if Jadeja smoked 5 sixes. A bit meaningless.

I have more time for the moral victory argument though. 3-0 to India for forcing Bazball to change.

They let the moral victory slip through their hands yesterday. Bunch of moral chokers.

Looks like Bazball is back though....

Yeah, he cranks it up to 86/88 for the odd ball but he is very good at what he does and he has proved you don't need to be a 90mph bowler to succeed at test level. Been a huge miss this summer and is a key bowler in our attempt to win in Australia this winter.
