If Thakur doesn't happen to feature, it will be to accommodate an extra batter - Sai. India/Gambhir/Gill won't play four frontline bowlers come what may. They will stick to playing batting allrounders and no-rounders like thakur. Because strengthening the batting is always their primary focus, taking 20 wickets is always a secondary matter (regardless of what they say to media, as their actions speak louder than words). Poor Kuldeep, I'd play him even if conditions were seamer friendly as he will at least help in dismissing the lower order quicker.

What’s Thakur got to do with anything. He’s definitely not in the picture anymore imo.
The look of the pitch has changed things. It's still got plenty of grass and it's damp in spots. However we don't know how much of the grass will be shaved off on the morning of the test, if at all. Indian combination will depend on the final conditions given. Nine players are pretty much certain to play. 1-6 and 9-11.

It's the last two spots that need to be sealed. Three players are in contention for those two spots. Sai, Sundar & Thakur.

Whatever it takes!!!
They are really rolling the dice here with 2 spin bowling allrounders and 2 seamers who #canbat. I dont honestly mind but feel bad for Karun. I wish he found a way to be a regular test class bat for a few years. Such a great story and such a hardworking guy. :(

It's an atrocious selection (no, you really don't need 6 bowlers) but it would be a very Thakur thing do if he randomly got a 6-fer and/or scored 50 now.
