Whatever it takes!!!
There is no precedent of wives and girlfriends publicly chiming in on what happens on the cricket field and for good reason I guess, the argument that she is just an average fan expressing her opinion doesn't cut it, if what she says starts making it to the presser and eventually to all the players concerned.
She has always been posting about cricket though. This is just the first time it is being highlighted in the media. And she is damn funny on social media. Including that tweet.

Putting the captaincy on a pedestal by replacing him just because he gets made fun of is really the complete opposite direction CA should be taking.

The captain's job isn't to make you feel good in online ****-slinging matches. It's to get the most of the selected squad and make tactical decisions as to bowling changes, field settings and declarations. Paine did not do a very good job of that in the last series so his captaincy should be criticised, but lets stick to reality instead of inventing abstractions and falling for bull**** media narratives.
Paine was a failure from Day 1 as a leader, we all probably were resigned to that fact from the get go and many didn't complain because of the circumstances he was made captain in.

The basic expectation was, that at least after Smith and Warner return Paine's leadership or the lack of it won't interfere with natural progression and performance of the test side.

However he is literally making stupid decisions on everything from field placements, DRS or use of bowlers and for a man considered the best keeper currently in Australia he is also keeping poorly, his only plus being his batting in the last series.

However cricketing reasons aside, he was made the leader of this side for a cultural change. We are made to believe every day that as Australian fans, we should be thankful that Paine is captaining this side through tough times.

However Paine gets obliterated on the stump mike, social media and the presser in literally every closely fought series.

So if the idea was making Australian captaincy a joke, then Paine and CA have succeeded largely in getting that job done.

Smith wearing spectacles and dancing around like a fool was apparently him mocking Leach. That's the world we live in, a hint a graciousness in victory goes a long way with the kind of press we have these days. View attachment 27052
Dats equally stupid, so was the conspiracy theories around Steve Smith marking guard when India were batting. But surely as bigger cricket nerds here we can seperate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to actual "news". :)

Indian media surely won't see the funny side of it, if Dani Smith posts something mocking Kohli's captaincy in the future.
Have you seen Alyssa Healy's posts?

And you forget the main thing. If Virat said something that stupid, the one tweeting about it won't be seen as the problem. After all, didn't our media go after Rohit and Gambhir for their "come to India" comments to the Saffers and then they came and wiped the floor with us?

She has her own identity and personality you know - and she is free to say whatever she can like any other. The fact that she is married to Ashwin cannot be restricting this basic right to opinion.

Its not like marrying into the ****ing Royal family of UK.

Healy is pretty much a gender rights activist, who makes some pretty stupid posts because she sees men's and women's cricket through that prism all the time.

However I haven't seen her continuing Starc's on-field chatter on her own social media feed, or maybe I am just oblivious of that.

Heck, even Mitch Johnson is like that on twitter. Trust me, that one post by Prithi is not worse than every single one by most ex-cricketers and some of their spouses/partners and many many by current cricketers. At least, hers was funny.

I mean that was barely a stumping chance at all. Beyond turning and bouncing a ton, by the time Paine caught it and got it back to the stumps Pant probably would have gotten his bat back down anyway.
Yeah, it wasn't a chance at all. Lot of people keep talking about this "missed chance"

Mitchell Johnson, KP these people are cricket pundits they get eyeballs and attention when they stir **** up.

Banter supposedly is supposed to stay inside the confines of the field, if something inappropriate is said the officials should step in.

However if family members of cricketers publicly partake in matters that don't involve them, with our media culture we will make cricket kind of like UFC where everyone from Uncle Donnie to the neighbor chimes in and starts trash talking the opponent on social media.
