Whatever it takes!!!
Kohli is being dissed unnecessarily. Of course not a big fan of his theatrics on the field (the guy absolutely looks like a joker doing it) and has made some moronic captaincy decisions, a few of them impacting the results of crucial overseas matches as well.

What shouldn't be forgotten though is that he has by some distance our best batsman for a long time now and should go down as an ATG. Even at Adelaide, before Rahane ran him out, he was well on the course to building a healthy 1st innings score.
Also, as we now know, it was his decision to have Jadeja replace him for MCG, it was also his idea to use Pant at #5. It was also the management's decision with him as captain to keep Bumrah off FC circuilt for 2017 but build his workload and fitness to get him ready to play tests in 2018. Something similar they are now doing with Hardik with a view to get him ready for the England tour (either WTC + 5 tests or just the 5 tests).

Of course, he has his failings as a captain but this agenda is stupid, at best.

He should leave captaincy and give it to Rahane. He should focus on batting.
Tendulkar: Ganguly (Captain) = Kohli: Rahane (Captain)

Can't see how Tim Paine continues as captain if opposition players/their wives have zero filters dissing him, he is an absolute embarrassment to the Australian captaincy.

Let Rahane justify his position in the team as a batsman first. The fact that a batsman with career avg of 42.5 is persisted with after 70 tests shows how bad Kohli has got it regarding his batters.

So Rahane is not at par with Ganguly when it comes to batting?
Best batsman is not equal to best captain

Heh, so how dense Potning must be to have a go at Pujara and questioning his value and intent, after being proven massively wrong in the 2018 series? He had a go at Pujara during the MCG test of 2018 as well, which ultimately India won comfortably and Oujara scored a 100.

Man Ashwin sounds like a dick based on some of his recent comments.
Such statements won't be made for a player that has any respect among cricket community, this is hardly any worse than rookie like Pant calling him a temporary captain to his last time around.

He feels that just by dismissing Smith twice and having a good series in AUS he has proved everyone wrong and now he doesn't need to do anything.

God knows what he will do when he picks up a 5 wkt fault in SENA countries? His average is still 40 in SENA countries as a bowler not batsman.

No, but surely India can find a batsman from its bench strength who can ablverage more than 42?

Its not his birthright you know, he has to first prove he is value as a batsman to the team.

Ashwin has earned his stripes in these last few years as a perfomer in SENA, a spinner can do **** on his own and need support from pacers to do well. Even the great Murali struggled you know?

Getting an inform Smith out to excellent planning and execution is a brilliant achievement in itself. Let him soak in it for sometime. He is not looking for suitable brides to marry you know - to be two goody shoes?

Maybe he just doesn't like that style of play and tbf deadbatting outside Asia hasn't given Pujara great outcomes anywhere else apart from Australia.

For a defensive batsman Pujara is vulnerable to a moving ball around both edges of his bat, the dense one's are probably the Australian bowlers who rather than trying to capitalise on that weakness preferred to flex by hitting him on his body.

Rahane's exact mix of strengths and weaknesses does make him a little more valuable than the 42 average might immediately suggest though.

Agarwal averages 45, which includes an average of 100 at home. If he averaged 60 at home instead of 100 I don't think India would win any fewer series. Rahane realistically not being amongst the top 10 or so Indian batsmen in home conditions probably doesn't cost much at all because India win almost all their home series regardless, and his ability to score runs in tighter away series in SENA countries is very valuable.

It does definitely put him on dicey ground. Much like how you can't drop catches if you're Saha, you probably can't have a bad away series if you're Rahane. But I do think he justifies his place even if someone else might average slightly more overall.

It's a tough era for batting and not the 00s. Batsmen who can average in the 40s with 12-13 hundreds and play world class knocks overseas under pressure against great attacks are not easily replaceable.

Yes, if we find 5 people who can average 50+ consistently, we should replace not just Rahane but Pujara as well along with the rest of the batting line up apart from Kohli but such a situation has no bearing in reality.

It is also the worst time to question his place in the side after he scored one of the most important centuries in the history of India test cricket to win a match for India under immense pressure after we were 36 AO in the previous innings.

Rahane needs to justify his place with batting average of 42 .
Ashwin has proved his critics wrong by having SENA bowling average of 40.
Make up your mind will you ?

Indian cricket has some tremendous brain selectors (and captain) though who will carry him for a bad home season and drop him in SA.

I did see the video where he made those comments, was definitely a little dickish but tbf to him he did immediately follow up by saying its all in jest.
I mean he was also making fun of Virat leaving etc. It was obvious he was juz joking around all show. And yeah, he can show bit more class but it's hardly a big issue IMO.
