It definitely wasn't cheating but I don't think it should be allowed. But moreover it's a poor comparison unless when Bashir was off the field Ben Foakes came on to keep wicket.

Keeping wicket is not the same as fielding as midwicket and I won't pretend it is.

A change in the Laws is a separate issue and a legitimate discussion but this is what we've got for the moment.
