Sri Lanka have had a much better tournament than most would have expected. If two of their matches hadn't been rained out, they could have had 2 more points and still been very much in contention for the semis.
It's more likely they'd have 2 fewer points without the rain IMO, especially seeing how poorly they were playing at that time.

Well going in to the WC it was hard to see SL getting any wins at all going on (then) current form and by the look of the squad they'd picked, I think that realistically they could have won either of those games that got rained out but not both. I can easily envisage losing both though tbf, although the team seemed to rally after the Afghanistan win.

On a more general note beating the host nation was completely unexpected, and the WI win has confirmed that it wasn't a total flash in the pan, going into the tournament we were rated (quite rightly) as possibly the weakest team going in and pending the final results we have ended up around middle of the road, in a non Asian WC. Best part has been that some new talent and new combinations have come through to produce the goods, especially batting wise, some good signs going forward with the opening combo working, Fernando and Mendis starting to put up some results in the middle order and DdS has come a long way as a bowler this tournament. But fast bowling concerns are still concerns
