Wait hold the **** up. Fabian Allen has taken 13 FC wickets and 7 list A wickets. What has he done to deserve an international cap?
Yeah he was a batsman who rarely bowled until recently; he developed his bowling a lot in some T20 tournaments and has been picked based on that. Stupid to not call up Cornwall instead given the type of player he is but he's definitely a better limited overs bowler than the figures suggest, which is the main reason I love how bad the figures are.

He didnt need to tbh.

What he should have done is bat with a better than test match standard strike rate for two thirds of his innings.
Comes back to the strike rotation problem. Ends up building up pressure on his partners, hogging the strike and results in daft dismissals at the other end.

Sadly I can see Windies collapsing here, either to Bumrah or the spinners. Best hope for them to win is Shai being an anchor and rotating the strike while some heavy hitters make hay. I see India winning this.

Yeah it was fine in the sense that he wasn't overly defensive. He's just not actually good enough to score runs at a decent rate when he's not taking lots of risks these days; it's not actually a tactical thing.
Yeah, I don't think it's something he can address too. He's just past it.

But like 7 list A wickets is pittance. It's not like he was a batsmen who had a good season with the ball and got elevated to the international squad. It looks like this selection came off the back of one good spell or something

Yeah he more or less became a bowler after he played most of those List A games. He wasn't getting a bowl at all in the first few of them. His selection basically come off one good domestic T20 tournament rather than one good spell, but it's still a bit amusing given Cornwall exists.

For example, his List A debut was early last year. He batted six and didn't bowl even though a left arm spinner got man of the match (and so the pitch was probably turning a bit) and his captain used seven bowlers.

Haha wow. Dizzy had a better case to stay in the test team as a number 6 batsmen after his double ton than this guy becoming a frontline ODI bowler

That looks the game there Windies needed a fast start on this pitch to get ahead of game, with gayle gone there chances of winning are unlikely

Eh they've got plenty of players who can bat quick. Just need to conserve wickets for a change
