2024 Ranking of Batsmen Poll

Line and Length

Cricketer Of The Year
20 voters and 19 nominations.

17 - Chanderpaul; 15 - Mitchell; 12 - Gooch; 11 - Laxman, Clarke; 8 - Cook; 6 - Lawry, Morris, Pujara; 5 - Pietersen;
4 - Macartney, Jayawardene; McCabe, Gilchrist; 2 - Hazare, Cowdrey, Ranjitsinghji; 1 - Paynter, Yousuf

Chanderpaul slips 6 positions from his 2022 ranking while Mitchell becomes the second previously unranked player to make the 2024 Top 50. In the event of us extending our poll to 75, Gooch automatically earns the 51st spot as the third highest in this round.

I'm hoping that all those who voted for Mitchell were on the same page in wanting South African Bruce and not current Kiwi Daryl.

Regarding extending to a Top 75, I have received mixed responses. I need 10 (half of our regular voters) to post "Yes" to indicate a willingness to continue. If we achieve that then we will recommence voting on Thursday of next week.

Thanks to all who participated in formulating this new Top 50.

I am agnostic on doing it so won't vote.

But I will say that if someone else wants to create a new thread, count votes etc for the next 25, including whoever wants to vote on it, they should just go do that if LL doesn't want to continue in this thread.

I'll be counting myself as a 'yes' so we only need a couple more to continue. Mind you. despite being a retired maths teacher, I may have difficulty counting to ten.
