2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Cricketer Of The Year
There needs to be some sort of demerits points system for pitches at Shield level. What's happening at the WACA is an absolute joke.
Getting absolutely sick of this and the only way to change it is to can the bonus points system. It's always been shyte. Imagine Teague Wyllie trying to make a career out of this? His career is being sawn off by fat arsed greenkeepers. It's not only harming the development of our batting but hindering the bowlers too. We've got the big 3 and Boland but little else after Morris and Richardson, who are both struggling anyway, despite practically everyone looking like champions in the shield.

Jack Edwards having a cracker of a Shield season. 6 games, 309 runs @ 53.16 and 22 wkts @ 22.72

I feel like Edwards since he came good has suffered from James Faulkner syndrome where his batting probably isn't quite good enough to be Top 6/7 at Test level and his bowling perhaps not quick enough to sustain relevance at Test level. It also doesn't help that we're in a golden age of seam-up all-rounders. There's a fair argument he could move up the order for NSW but not sure ahead of who especially as he's getting picked as an all-rounder.

I'd like to see him get a white ball game or two though.

But yes, it's crazy that he's gone from "useless **** getting games because he was good in juniors as a 16 year old" to "top-class Shield all-rounder" quite quickly.

The dominance of seam bowling all rounders is as clear a sign as any that the pitches aren't fit for purpose

I mean sure but a big part of that is that he gets to bat 7
I’m not his biggest fan but he’s already a much better cricketer than Stoinis and look at his career

There’s obviously something there as is the case with Sutherland

Can they be wc test cricketers?

Time will tell but I will back them before Connolly

They should really dig up that optus pitch. Clearly something wrong with it. Game over in under 2 days and 125 overs! Mad.
