If Curran had actually pulled out a few steps before the crease then maybe he could get a lesser punishment, but going all the way? He's lucky he's not being sent home

He claimed he's been intimated, that's a massive overaction. Seen refs in football on the same power trip over a little bit of aggro.

As much I agree on respecting umpires/refs, common sense can be achieved when respect isn't shown. I think calling it intimidation isn't common sense.

I also imagine he'd be the one submitting a report to the league to give his recommendation on the ban etc.

I feel football ban is relevant as it's generally proportionate ban to the crime(I also couldn't draw on any cricket examples off the top of my head)

4 game ban is over the top in this instance for me.
If he was under Cricket Australia he'd have been banned for 5 years, along with his captain just because

I've actually changed my tune, now that I've seen this clip EVERYWHERE - man it's gone nuts across social media.

He deserves every one of his four matches. It is time that sport around the world stands up for their officials. Two rugby referees have retired since the World Cup this year, because of the abuse they get both face to face and online. This was an incredibly arrogant, defiant, petulant act that I bet he didn't think would be caught on camera. What's more, the umpire is 100% in the right. I bet he was told to stop before this as well, but chose to be a prick and ignore it.

4 matches to me says we value our officials, without them we haven't got a game. It draws a line in the sand. I like it. I hope more codes catch on. To me it's about protecting the people who adjudicate our game, who at so many levels do it for nothing, and the ones who do get paid seem to be seen as human pin cushions for verbal barbs and sometimes worse.

And now I read that his words as he went past the umpire were...'if you stand in the way I have nowhere to go, ****head'.

Huge ego for this generation's Khaled Mahmud.

Yeah I'm beyond baffled that they're appealing this. If the umpire doesn't dodge him at the last moment like he's a Dark Souls boss then he gets absolutely wiped out.

Haha prison perhaps a bit too much, but really it's embarrassing to think they'll appeal this.
Four games isn't that much with the depth in the squads these franchises have.
IMO It's only going to attract more unwanted attention to something they should be trying to forget in a hurry.
Sixers should take their medicine and move on asap.

4 match ban sounds about right for Curran calling the umpire a f~head. Now how much ban for running full speed at the umpire.

Most people in umpire position would have done a confusing shuffle deciding to step left or right to avoid and would of likely gotten absolutely steamrolled.

I think you have misquoted him. What he actually said to the umpire was "Get out of the way while I uphold the spirit of cricket, ****head!".

The umpire should have put a shoulder under Tom's chin. What a ****ing ballbag.

Agreed. Now they're calling on a groundsman for ****ing evidence - never mind the umpire there who only tried to uphold the laws of the game, and was charged at for his troubles then basically called a ****. The video clearly shows he ignores the umpire, runs at him, then points at him in an intimidatory manner. If Curran gets downgraded, it's another slap in the face for officials and a clear message that the game is quite happy to oversee a sadomasochism towards umpires/refeeres. Step right up, S&M folks, wear a white coat and cop endless **** all day, maybe for $50 petrol money if you're lucky at club level!

Cmon Sydney...have a moral compass and make Curran cop his wack. He has zero public support. And if you're short an all-rounder who can't really bat or bowl, call Mark Ealham - he's 54 but he can wander out and get cleaned up first ball by Zampa as well as Curran ever could.

Some very long tails today jeez. Overton and Joel Davies at 6 respectively.

Edit; just realised Edwards is at 7 for the sixers, maybe they just rate Joel's batting.

Henriques interview with Fox is a low key disgrace. Didn't even attempt to square with the incident in question.

Overton has played as a middle order batsman in the Blast too when he could barely bowl.
