Didn't CA try to get him a few games as a specialist bat around the time we toured sri lanka? Thought I heard county sides where only interested in him at the time as an allrounder, not a specialist bat. Could have that wrong.
Well of course they'd be interested in him as an allrounder, because that's... what he is.

He could benefit a lot from bowling in those conditions too, it'd help him with his control of length and movement which he really struggles with right now. Get that right and he could be a proper bowler.

CA would be worried they couldn't micromanage his workload.

It's a very good idea of course for multiple reasons, so we can be assured it won't happen.

yeah most county teams would have done disgusting things to sign cameron green just as a batter after he played about 7 games.

I mean i'm more suprised that they weren't willing to take him purely as a batsmen given his workload for WA. I don't get how middlesex can sign pre ashes head or handscomb after they've **** the bed in england before but not green who at that point was averaging 55+ in the shield with the bat and was averaging high 30's with the bat in test's.

IMO, Green’s biggest issue in tests is a lack of confidence not technique

Scoring runs in CC won’t do anything for that

Bartlett has been forced to turn down contracts for that very reason
He's not even centrally contracted so I'm surprised he didn't tell them to foxtrot oscar.

Good to know CA really care about him though I suppose - I've been a fan since Under 19 days.

Queensland

Has been contracted for years so they can control whatever he does

I like Whiteman but that won't happen.

I still prefer Renshaw to the other options. Bad Shield form but it's been a minefield, he's made good Shield runs before and his recent outings for Aus A and other similar teams have been gun.

I'm not a big believer in changing the reserve batsman based on what's happened in domestic cricket in the past five minutes. Domestic performances are important but I take a more long term view of them than caring too much about about "form" unless someone has visibly improved, got the yips or had a particular flaw exposed.
CA should have been aware of the technical flaws of Harris & Renshaw for years but it hasn’t stopped them from being picked

i would have thought the poni system works on CA being able to over-ride the states including in the pre-season, keeping in mind that the off-season probably isn't much longer than that period of time around the IPL, even for state players

i'm pretty sure the states unhappiness about stuff like this got a mention a few years back

Can they actually control what he does in the off season? I didn't think state contracts actually did.
Don’t know about the legality of it all but they definitely exert influence

Keep in mind that most state contracts are short (think he’s on a 2 year deal atm) so you can soon find yourself out of a job if you don’t toe the line before you’ve made it

There are absolutely technical things he can work on too. It's not his biggest problem but let's not pretend it's not something he can work on. And having more exposure to different conditions and different environments can only help him.

Yeah, green's definitely still got technical issues. Has gotten out bowled leaving a gap between bat and pad a few times. Outside of that, he still needs to work on his strike rotation. He's still the same 8(30) than I start smashing boundaries player he was a few years ago, don't know if you can play catchup like that at test level like he does in the shield.
