Does not say much when your captain brings on Bumrah for his second spell before giving Shardul his first. If that is the level of confidence you have on the guy, may well have played Nitish Reddy who is at least a far better batsman.

Hopefully Gill shows more trust in the support cast than Rohit did in Australia and actually encourages them. You never know how well they may respond. Siraj has had a far better second spell, for example. Gotta back Prasidh and Shardul as well, these guys will be key in this series.

Not an ideal bowler for English conditions, leaks way too many runs. Akashdeep would've been a better selection for these conditions. Or even Arshdeep.

It's a shame Shami is missing/isn't fully fit/at his best.

India never really got a sustained run from Bumrah and Shami operating together. Though could potentially have been up there with Ambrose/Walsh, McGrath/Gillespie, Wasim/Waqar etc
