    Symonds: Gawn?

Footy Show just said they would be crossing live to a press conference by CA that they understood would see an announcement that Sympnds career was over, as he'd been sent home for another instance of misdemeanour.

Can we get jason gillespie for an interview

Wasn't having a go at you, more myself. Wonder if he knows these jokers are cyber-squatting on his name?

Can we get jason gillespie for an interview

Haha, yeah, on closer inspection I don't think so. the flyer down the bottom that "(web address) is for sale! Make us an offer!" should have been a tell-tale sign...

Can we get jason gillespie for an interview

Love that he's got pictures of random birds in bikinis in the crowd on his website frontpage. Got his autobiog the other day, haven't made it that far into my pile of unread books as yet. His views on the new generation of Aussie quicks would be very interesting.

    New Cricinfo Design

Yeah, I found that the other day... There is a link to the 'original version' of Statsguru that might bring some relief.

Ah, but Jono, does he have a test 50? ;)

Proud day for the anoxeric community as their first representative becomes an AFL footballer, if Bock does get a go. Looking forward to the Bruce Reid-style snapped-in-half injury after the first centre bounce. Still as a Pies fan, I can hardly bag out other clubs ruckmen. Any relation to...

    Best Ashes Teams

Yeah, possibly. But how then do you rate that overall record against his efforts in specific matches like Old Trafford in 2005, or Brisbane in 2006/7? I think you also need to take his overall record vs England with a grain of salt, or in a bit more detailed view: like all the Aussie batsmen...

Who would you pick in the Greatest Cricket XI of YOUR Lifetime?

Was he lucky to have two great partners in Fredricks and Haynes, or were they lucky to bat with him? It's a potentially endless loop of discussion, similar to Warne-McGrath or the Windies quartets.

Who would you pick in the Greatest Cricket XI of YOUR Lifetime?

That's a pretty damn good team. Similar to what SJS said, if you're able to leave out players like Tendulkar, Hadlee, Marshall, Lillee, Wasim Akram, Ambrose, etc etc AND be able to make valid arguments for all your selections, that's a pretty special team. I would loved to have seen Knott...

    Best Ashes Teams

Plus he'd keep the wags and Craig McDermott in line. "you'll be on the next ****ing plane home sunshine!" In all seriousness, would take Border or Waugh's hardness and mental toughness over Ponting's at time less than ideal demeanour in a heartbeat - and I'm not even in the camp that thinks...

Who would you pick in the Greatest Cricket XI of YOUR Lifetime?

I guess my point was Bradman played with both Tallon and Lindwall and clearly rated Tallon as the better batsman. As for Morris as opener, his rationale was that he wanted a left right opening combo. So there was a theory behind that choice, even if we don't agree with it.

    awtb

I'd have guessed similar to McGrath - predominantly low 130s. Sharp enough, but obviously pace wasn't his major weapon.

    A.F.L Thread

Yeah, that pissed me off as well. When someone like Caro feels moved to point out that "fans are actually a reasonably important stake-holder" its obviously got pretty dire. Thought Hutchence's other gem last night was during the discussion of Sydney. Caro, making the point that not every...

    A.F.L Thread

Mentioned it last week, but "One Week at a Time" is surprisingly good in this regard. Matty Lloyd talking to Brendan Goddard about footy was pretty good.

    Full Ashes coverage on FTA

I think the jaw dropping scenery and some very good coverage by SBS have helped. But yeah, the success of guys like Robbie McEwan and Baden Cook in the sprinters category has built up awareness over the past decade and then Cadel Evans emergence as a genuine contender has caused it to really...
