Who would you pick in the Greatest Cricket XI of YOUR Lifetime?

79 Hayden Gavaskar Ponting Tendulkar Richards Imran Gilchrist Warne Marshall Ambrose McGrath Lillee and Chappell miss out as I'm only considering performances post 79. EDIT: Forgot about Imran, and Gavaskar deserves a spot ahead of Greenidge

Why do umpires always get bagged out?

Why not? Can't jus say "shouldn't use this formula" without saying why not. As for your second point, and you saying that some teams get a pronounced, consistent bias towards them in terms of umpiring mistakes, sufficient to lift their winning average? If so, love to hear about it. (lemme...

    Jumping the Shark II

Just realised Jamee hasn't made his pick for this round - Banning Laker was the last pick of round 6, but he was then meant to make another pick for the first pick of round 7. I'm up first for round 8 (see below), but I'll give Jamee the chance to make his selection first. To summarise: 1.1 –...

Why do umpires always get bagged out?

Wouldn't be a problem if NZ, or whoever - not meaning to focus in on them specifically, were a better team. It's facile to blame the umpires when their mistakes are only a problem because you're already not competitive. The job of the umpires is to do their job to officiate the game correctly...

Which is your preferred limited overs format?

Would dispute that T20 would be any less boring if over-done to the extent ODIs have been. 'something always happening' doesn't equate to more interesting, if that 'something' is a contrived, boring event.

How Many Centuries Will Phil Hughes Score?

Strongest argument I've yet seen for Hughes being a knob.

Which is your preferred limited overs format?

ODIs. Less forced and random than T20. More substance.

Why do umpires always get bagged out?

So NZ never get decisions in their favour to balance that out? As you imply there, NZ's problem isn't bad decisions, it's that they aren't good enough. When you acknowledge that as the case, blaming umpires for your losses makes no sense.

Why do umpires always get bagged out?

That's the point - increasingly few people are choosing to do it. And it is unfair that they're held to a standard way above anyone else in the sport. Rarely a batsman or a captain will have their individual actions pulled apart to the level an umpire's are. And even then, if a batsman has a...

^^ Nah, I'm just saying that it shouldn't matter to them one way or another - them being distracted from their job by having their wife in the country is as pathetic as them being unable to perform if their wife isn't there. They're adults, and no-one else gets to blame screwing up at work on...

Seriously though, this is bizarre. If these guys can't do their job independent of whether or not their wives or girlfriends are around, they should hand their 'functional adult' cards back in.
