The difference is Ponting already has a pretty full-on work-load as captain, tour selector and looking after his own form. Langer or whoever is the batting coach has none of that other stuff to worry about.

Donald think SA has bowling concerns

Agreed, but becomes a less feasible option when there aren't easy runs from the other end.

Donald think SA has bowling concerns

Really depends on which Morne shows up. If it's the poor Morne, then yeah, a lot of responsibility is going to fall on Steyn and it becomes easier for opposing batsmen to just try to sit on him and relieve the pressure at the other end.

    IPL vs state

Any player choosing to play IPL over a shield final should be banned by Cricket Australia.

ICC Headquarters could move back to Lords from Dubai

Showing Zimbabwe the stick before they need their vote for the upcoming tussle re: IPL availability and scheduling?

Sure, but at the same time, what an international batsman needs from a coach will be different from what a grade or FC cricketer will. I do see what you're saying, and I'm certainly not saying that good players automatically make good coaches, but I think there are some players whose...

Fair enough, given the writing was on the wall for players of vintage. Unfortunately, probably makes it easier for you to take Ball. C. Cloke meeting with Hawthorn.

Looks like he really missed out on a golden chance to push his chances, with Jaques, Katich, Khawaja and especially Clarke all going on to make good scores. Good to see Clarke getting those runs.

Langer's got what a lot of accredited coaches don't have which is a stack of near-current successful experience in the Australian team playing international cricket. I'm guessing that's the rationale for the decision. Whether that translates into him being able to assist people as a coach is...

Yeah, you've said you're not interested in Robbo as well. Betts is going to need to kick a lot of goals next year.

Would strongly disagree with this, if we're comparing peak with peak.

What if Ball tells the Dons he's not interested in playing for them? Reckon he'd go before that in any case this year. Hope Cloke avoids Port. Felt bad enough when we trade him to Carlton, if that then led to him ending up in Alberton, would really feel guilty.

Cam Cloke delisted by Carlton. A Richmond, Melbourne or Freo could do worse than spend a PSD pick on the guy to give them some time for their youngsters to develop. He's a fringe AFL player, but there were worse players getting a regular game at those clubs last year, and he could play a role...

    Rashid Latif finally admits it...

Because a bowler pleading and acting like they've been egregiously robbed would definitely mean that an appeal was actually out. Not saying Kumble was in anyway to blame in this instance, just think it's bizarre these days to say that vehement appealing signifies anything, to umpire or viewer...
