Congratulations to CW's "own" Peter McGlashan

Not only a blogger extrordinaire on the best cricket site on the web, he's now a record-breaker. Well done.

Australian cricketers getting 200's (and big scores in general)

^^ Flintoff or KP? Not all-time, but both would have been in a World XI for more than a few months IMO.

Australian cricketers getting 200's (and big scores in general)

Since Gillespie's 200 in April 2006, Ponting's 196 in November 2006 was the highest score by an Australian. There have been 10 scores of 150+, only one of which, Symonds 162* in the test that dare not speak its name, was not out. Link

Australian cricketers getting 200's (and big scores in general)

Cricinfo says Gillespie was the latest, and before that was a certain Bradley J. Hodge. Obviously scoring double tons has such dire consequences for your selection prospects that no-one else has been willing to take the chance!

Australian cricketers getting 200's (and big scores in general)

Jason Gillespie in 2006 vs Bangers would be the last. Has probably occurred in part because its been a very strong batting line up in which several players have often cashed in, and which is result oriented and hence have declared on people. Before that, probably Gilchrist's double (at then...

    IPL vs state

The other issue would be in that case - of course as you say dependent on how it was worded, which none of us know - that when Hodge signed that contract he would likely have understood the IPL season to occur outside the Australian domestic season. Moving the IPL tournament so it overlaps it...

    *Official* West Indies In Australia

A few people have made this observation, but I think it's pretty meaningless unless you're actually saying that there are better alternatives who should have been selected instead. Maybe the team that went to the Ashes was our best team and England were simply better over the course of the...

    CSA worried about crowd attendance...

Well, they might have had Pietersen and Trott to somehow try and shoe-horn into that batting line up if they hadn't decided to leave because they felt they had no chance of a fair shake in SA cricket.

    CSA worried about crowd attendance...

The poor crowds for the IPL weren't really surprising, anymore than the poor crowds to matchs featuring two non-Indian clubs in the World Club Championship or whatever its called. No local team to support nearly always equals a poor attendance. The poor attendance at the domestic 20/20 matches...

    IPL vs state

Not in the southern hemisphere because the two seasons don't overlap. So it would be a massive departure in the countries that sound like they're more likely to be affected, at the business end of the domestic season. Would be interesting. Say Victoria makes the Shield final and Cameron White...

Donald think SA has bowling concerns

If Steyn stays fit. But then, that's true of nearly every team and their top bowler.

Yeah, fair points. These kinds of appointments are more often than not made on personal judgements rather than any kind of objective process - and it would be an interesting study to compare instances in cricket and other sports to try to categorise cases where it was a 'buddy' or gut...

    IPL vs state

Is it? Or would it be a choice with quite stiff consequences? If CA sign up for that, they should be impeached. Fail to see how its CA or CSA's problem that IPL wants to move out of its original window - that window was agreed upon for a reason. How much are we going to let this tail wag the...
