**Official** South Africa in England 2012

IMHO it all boils down to the simple fact that there is no need to find a 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th, or 5th) gear as long as the RRR does not get over 5 or 6. Maybe not what we would like to see in a chase, but it is the professional thing to do. I can see the value of never ever speeding up the...

Imagine a keeper diving to take a ball thrown in by a fielder, a yard of the sumps, and while taking it, making a mess of the stumps with his shoulder..... I'd feel robbed if I were the batsman..... Not that I would ever be in a situation where a third umpire would check a video review...., but...

Hmmm, AB knocks the bails off with his elbow there. I'm inclined to think this is a correct dismissal anyway, as his gloves follow over the stumps before the batsman is in, but...... Is this officially a correct dismissal?

Snicko must be aimed properly. Not sure they do that.

I'ld like to think such can be properly worked out in a science lab.....

Even the faintest nick would mark a spot on hotspot, right?

Not that I like it, but as long as he keeps the RRR under 5 or even 6, there are no reasons to take any risks. None at all......, apart from entertaining us :) .

Actually, AB articulates pretty well! I can understand nearly of all of it. Written Afrikaans is rather easy to read for any Dutchman with some sense of language, but spoken Afrikaans is mostly too hard. I guess the same difference when one tries to understand a northern English dialect...

Being somewhat on the front foot after a day of Test cricket IN INDIA is always a good thing.

I guess it is just his day....

Apart from Van Wijk having his day, it's also nice to see that Bracewell holds up his end properly. Just the solitude boundary of 50 deliveries. Quite sensible!

Well, I could argue he is a batsman that keeps a bit.... Anyway, whatever we think Of Van Wijk, right now he does ok.

Flynn had that coming...... Anyway, it's good to see NZ putting up some runs.

I agree! He is only underrated, when he is unfairly compared to Gilchrist (as are many other wicket keepers. I think we've got to accept that Gilly was an all-time great. A once in every two decades born sort of player. He cannot be the benchmark. Test wicket keepers are wicket keepers first...

Maybe some glue on their hands would help.....

Partly, I guess. But IIRC, the Windies made 250 for the first wicket in the first Test. I was thinking of that, after having India 125/3.

Good ball! It's interesting to see that NZ, just having been pummeled in WI, make a more than decent start here. I'm wondering though. I figured we might have seen the last of Chris Martin.

IMHO, the difference between England this series and England that got to #1 is, apart from playing against the opposition possible, mostly their batting. When it comes to bowling, the big absentee was Swann. Probably it is all about his injury, but the Swann we've seen this series is nowhere...

Maybe I'm wat too fast into this, but I've noticed, while having a look at the WC U19 results, that SA have a very very talented keeper in Quinton de Kock. He's only 19, has 12 FC matches, averaging 63, and has 54 catches + 4 stumpings.
