*Official* Third Test at Old Trafford

That ball on the shoulder was not too far away from an LBW. Would have gone over, but not by much.

I reckon Bresnan didn't review because he feels the 3rd umpire is just guessing....... His bat was nowhere near the ball.....

We all know that he's simply guessing. This time he was right. My 5 year old niece would be right 50% of the times too....

When considering analysis of general play, he is indeed not there with Athers or Nasser. But poor? And not much better than Beefy? I think that's harsh on Mikey! Coem on, the only thing Beefy can do considering analysis of general play, is reading out mph or rpm. Holding is a fair bit better...

Anyway, good session of cricket. 92/2 at lunch is proper test cricket.

Indeed. DRS did its job perfectly. It's just the severly mentally handicapped sorry excuse of a 3rd umpire called Kumar Dharmasena Somebody punch him in the face please! Warner is back, right?

Thta is unbelievable..... He didn't nick it! End of story. DRS would work a lot beter with me (or any of you lot) at the helm than with this bunch of professionla idiots!

I guess all discussion about who should play (Bres, Finn, Tremlett or Onions) is really luxuary problem It's in England's favour they have a 2nd testworthy attack with Finn, Tremlett, Onions & Panesar. I'm not saying that attack is close to the first choice, but it's definitively testworthy.

Wtason has at least improved on his DRS skills, as he didn't review this :) .

It's good to see the Aussies make a decent start here. I still don't believe they will get themselves back into this series, but I sincerely hope so!

Does anyone think Australia's situation is not actually that dire?

Agreed. Yet, I guess it's fine to have one of your top 7 being a young inexperienced lad with a point to prove.

The point is that fewer and fewer middle class parents are considering sending their kids to football. Possibly I'm not the best judge, but I do visit the UK at least twice year and have some good friend on the island. In the Netherlands we've seen a massive middle class shift from football to...

To add to Bell's defense: Only Pietersen and Collingwood scored more runs than Bell in the 06/07 Ashes.

Does anyone think Australia's situation is not actually that dire?

My point is that, if Australia had won, it would have been due to an 80 runs last wicket partnership. By no means would that have been an easy way to win..... I think it was just freakish it got that close! But yeah, it did indeed get very close. Yet, had the Aussies pulled it off, it would, in...

I'm not writing him off! Surely not! But he is not yet where he can, and some day, will be!

Does anyone think Australia's situation is not actually that dire?

Only Anderson & Broad, me thinks. Since they are bowlers, the problems are not really easy to compare, I guess. None of the current England batsmen have ever been so dodgy as the Oz batsmen (apart form Clarke). Not even Ian Bell, though some might disagree. Bell has more fifties than Pietersen...
