    *Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

Various people here and also a few commentators think 200 runs would be a stiff target for the 4th innings. Is that really so? At what size of a lead would we consider things 50-50? ?

Anyone else having problems with the live youtube stream? And as I type it comes through....., 15 minutes late though.

Even though we could see this coming as soon the Aussies had won the toss and actually batted well, it is indeed a rotten idea that this contest ends in this rainy way. I still feel a bit hard done by.

Indeed. Once more, it does confirm that the adagium "batsman knows best", in which I believed 100% prior to this series, is simply not true.

I guess you're right. It's just that I consider a decision system that is 100% consistent, might be worth a tiny little bit of wrong decisions.

Fair enough. I agree many England fans tend to overstate the quality of the England team. But they're certainly not alone in that!

The problem with snicko is that it has shown some clear 'edges', when a simple regular old-fashioned TV-review shows the ball has been nowhere near the bat. Sound might come from just anywhere. Even a snap of a finger at slip, for that matter. Wouldn't it be a simple way to say that if hotspot...

Since the odds are 250:1, I figured I'd place a few euros on England to win.

Well, Pietersen won't just keep a straight bat for a whole day!

Once more, DRS is used as a gamble tool, rather than as a tool to reverse howlers, but I guess it was justified in this occasion.

Apparently, it is hard to predict rain. Having said so, I do have a few rather ridiculous experiences with forecasts. Driven under dark grey skies, in the midst of a heavy downpoor, the man on the radio tells me it is bright right now, but clouds will come in later in the day, with a chance of...

I appreciate your Aussie bias. However, when going on the road of "Broad made 25 runs too many and Haddin was robbed", one might wonder why you left out Ashton Agar's runs after he was ruled not out of a stumping, which I thought was out. Just to point things out: I'm neither Pom nor Con, so I...

What service does provide the most reliable forecast? If there won't be any play, I actually do have other things to do......

Clarke declared behind in the West Indies iirc.

Play stopped by bad light, while the flood lights are on. Just when you think umpires have sunk to the lowest level possible, they prove otherwise...... It's hard to keep up the general idea of respect for umpires, when top level umpires do just anything wrong......

I agree the Ozzies missed a trick here. However, If I were Clarke, I'd take 8 overs to throw the kitchen think at just every ball, before declaring (or simply losing all wickets).

Run the first one hard, look for the second...... Escapes Michael Clarke..... If this goes on, England might not only have a decent chance to draw, but even to win. Wouldn't have thought that an hour ago. Ahhhhh, rain!
