***Official*** England in South Africa 2015/16

The point being (iirc), that mixed doesn't count as black, but as coloured. In SA, there is white, black, coloured & indian. At least that is how I understood things. To me, Bavuma looks mixed.

Ok, awkward question, but..... Having been to SA once, I was corrected that Ashwell Prince was not black, but brown/coloured. Completely baffled, I got a lecture on it, which I took reluctantly. During tea, Nasser said Bavuma is the first black batsman to get a 100 for SA. I guess I still don't...

Just so people will always have a chance to argue he is an inventive & aggresive captain. Doesn't matter it's a flawed argument. Amla conservative? How could you say that??? Forgot about him declaring behind in Capetown 2016. Et voila, monsieur, debate won!

Declaring behind. Just the thing that was lacking in this test.

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

Can you advise me where to procure such a device? Couldn't be arsed about the amount of money involved. Just needs to be good!

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

Thanks for the reply. I can think of examples were it probably does make sense to try to explain people are being oversensitive. Though it is debatable doing so is wise on a specific occasion, I'd certainly think it's not per se 'just being a dick'. Earlier in this thread I said I work as a...

Just curious. I think you're right. But you seem to make it bigger and bigger. If we get this matter out of this incident, does it always apply? What I mean: Some people are easily offended. Some people experience unmcomfortability (for real), whereas others wouldn't. It's a simple fact that...

Must be said he didn't give a single chance away during his batting innings :) .

Indeed! The complete and utter final argument that locks the whole discussion! We needed that!

Well, I just get served here. I don't mean this to be peronal, as many do so (I guess myself included). I agree with what you say here, but the way you say it, comes accross at paternalistic.

I tried to google it, but my screen told me my computer was reinitialsing.

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

Just an example that ***ism has many facets, even without the ***ual aspect: I work as a science teacher. Two years ago, after having given a 14year old girl a positive advice on math & science, her dad contacted me: Are you sure this is right for a girl? I've got a box in my mind with...

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

That's not really my point. I think it is ***ist and defenitely worth a discussion. The way this is done though (by soem, not all of course), strikes me as paternalistic.

You won't hear me saying people are wrong..... It's just that I'm a bit amazed how ferociously people react to this.

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

This thread is going too fast..... I've had a discussion with my wife about this last night. She simply had to laugh out loud (on what CHG had said). Must be said: she works as a criminal investigator in male dominant environment. Maybe she's used to really bad things.

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

Agreed. Yet this incident gets a lot of people overcooked, whereas this doesn't seem to be the case on many other occasion

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

I can see both your points and I think the both of you are overreacting. In BW's defense: Many of the remarks made in this thread seem quite paternalistic to me. For FSM's sake. This whole thread is a bit overcooked, imho. Two general notes, just to take this incident out of a general problem...

Well, whatever happened there exactly, the question that will be raised is what she was doing there, not? Edit: Or did he walk inside a women's dressing room?
