All-time Great XI - Voting system

Sorry but the NZ selection is kind of weird.... You've put Chris Pringle in there... Chris Pringle??????? 30 test wickets at an average of 46.... I think you're thinking of someone else. Dion Nash maybe? Tim Southee, Tony MacGibbon, Frank Cameron.... even Neil bloody Wagner.... Bruce...

Re Athlai's three team question. John Reid must have been in his late 50's by the 1986 season so he probably wouldn't have been at his best. (Yes, I know he meant the other John Reid, but he did post John R Reid's batting stats... :)) As for the test series, we seem to have become a side...

According to Phil Edmonds' wife the whole England team of the 80's wasn't exactly shy about relieving their, er, boredom on tour.... Daryl Tuffey left evidence of his exploits...

Prasad averages 16, about the same as Harbajan and Saqlain for instance who were a couple of subcontinent number 8's to cause NZ some problems. Sri Lanka had Vaas at number 8 for donkey's years, so I don't think the generalisation holds.

Top Five Most Underrated Cricketers Ever.

Brian Statham is so under-rated that the first poster to mention him calls him "George" and several posters mention him afterwards but don't correct the name. Not so much under-rated as forgotten. Khan Mohammed is a good pick - his average was dented about 5 points in one innings (0-259 I...

I kind of get the 6-batsmen, 5-bowler thing in theory, but does it really make sense when your 7 and 8 aren't genuine allrounders, and your number 1 and number 6 average about 26...

Great-looking ground, and big boundaries, pitch looks great for batting.... but a requirement for a test ground should be sightscreens big enough that they don't need to be moved.....

What happened to Dane Piedt? 8 wickets on debut, now not getting a gig ahead of Peterson and Tahir?

But the second sound was perfectly aligned to the ball hitting the pocket, so the only conclusion is that the first sound occurred as it appeared, with the ball a good foot beyond the bat (and the sound was a muffly bump on Snicko, not a sharp spike as an edge would have been).

God in Pakistan recently out on the field Reiffel was a complete not-outer - pretty much every umpire's call was in the batsman's favour. Don't know what he saw there to make him so bowler friendly...

Credit the Aussie selectors - after his 3 for 500 or whatever in the UAE, a few selection committees of recent vintage would have dropped Lyon like a shot. Nice to see him get some reward for a great few days work. Didn't look too likely when he had 1-100...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

You'd have to check the eligibility rules - didn't Cairns start life with Northern Districts? In fact, NZ players tend to move around a lot so one of the hardest parts of making up provincial all time xi's would be deciding on a method to allocate players to provinces.
