    ***Official*** England in India 2016/17

At the end of this series, this innings will not be remembered for India's rubbish bowling, but for their rubbish fielding.

I'ld hedge it to put a pound on Root to topscore right now.

What do you find to be the most exciting aspect of a test match?

Freddie had his series of glory, turning around a two decades Ashes drought. TBF on Stokes: He simply won't ever be in that situation.

It wouldn't surprise me too much, if we can buckle up for something of a slog fest from here, now that Benjamin has his ton. Not saying it's the wise thing to do btw....

If the next pitch is more suited for spinners, that very well might be the case.

And what if he does take a bag of wickets? Whatever Zafar ansari does, I think Rashid shouldn't feel too safe!

It just keeps amazing me how England keep strengthening their tail. Sending in a 24 year old dude at 10, with 3000 FC runs under his belt.....

It was Yadav taking that catch, not? A bit of poetic justice then!

I've alway felt that a par score is when each and every player does his average job. So, setting a par score, batting first on a detoriating pitch, is actually giving a 60% chance of winning. I do realise this discussion is not getting anywhere.....

Apart from what is a par score, the thing the has me wondering the most is how fast this pitch will detoriate.

Defenitely more promising than any of the dozen openers England have tried since strauss' retirement.

One test innings is in deed too early to get carried away. Perhaps scoring 1500 first class runs as a teenager is not?

Just watched the replays. Not much to add to what has been said here. FWIW, I thought the catch was just (just) fine. I do have a question, but not about the play today: I know Indian cricket fans will show up during the ODI's, but this really was a very very small crownd, not?

Being closer (as a human) does not beat having a gazillion different camera reviews, does it? Not per se at least.....

I haven't seen a single ball. Simple judgement by scorecard tells me that it was England's day. When not having a proper idea about conditions, my par score is 300/6 at stumps on day 1. That should result in 400 or so. So I reckon England are on their way to 500 at tea tomorrow. From a neutral...

***Official*** Australia in South Africa + South Africa in Australia 2016/17

I can see why these guys can feel a bit unlucky, or even hard done by, but in the end, both occasions were about a batsman not getting some bat on the ball, blocking the ball with their legguards, whereas the stumps would have been disturbed, had they not blocked it. Though on the batsmen, but...

Five things I don't get about cricket

Yeah. Have to agree. Not their 'toughest' win in that sense. On the other hand: It's even 'thougher' to win by 180 runs, when your opponents trail by 80 runs, in their own yard, having 10 wickets in hand in the first innings. Maybe not the toughest win, but for me the most amazing & massive...

    Best ever run out

It would have been better if the Aussies chased 380, rather than 540. Yeah, nitpicking a bit here.

Probably, but I find it somewhat odd to think of a village... For FSM's sake: He's from Johannesburg, a multi-million city! I'm no expert on SA demographics, but my guess is that most people grow up in urban areas, completely regardless of ethnic background. I guess it would have been worse if...

The Secret of Glenn McGrath's Success

It's never easy to compare..... It sure as hell helps when your batting team mates put up 500+ before you start bowling. Or, when having a rare off-day, the likes of Warne, Gillespie, Kasper, or Lee do the damage. Yet, it seems odd to hold that against a bowler, when judging him.
