    ***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

Is it fair to say that when you win the toss here you should look up not down?

    ***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

Yeah add Tamim and Shakib to this side and it's got some potential, though the seam bowling is an unknown. However, they're off to a good start...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

I'm assuming Anderson has been responsible for more lost matches than any other player - ie, been the last wicket to fall...

Most Underrated Cricketers in Cricket Chat

Australian bowlers from the 90s/00s who weren't McGrath or Warne tend to be forgotten. (Ok , maybe not Lee, who isn't rated particularly highly, but that is correct...). Thinking of Gillespie, Reiffel, Fleming, Clark.

***Official*** West Indies tour of Sri Lanka, November/December 2021

Well that was a surprise. Wonder what's the most wickets taken by left arm orthodox spinners in a test, as with two in each side there could be quite a tally...

    Great performances by injured players

John Edrich had his ribs broken first ball by Lillee in '75, then came back out when 6 down and stuck it out for 160 balls trying to save a doomed Ashes.

***Official*** Pakistan in Bangladesh 2021 (T20Is and Tests)

I think Chris Martin may no longer be the worst batsman I've seen in world cricket....

Disappointed this isn't on Youtube somewhere... Sri Lanka not capitalising on day 1s efforts but it's hard not to think the Lankan spinners will be a bit too much for this Windies line-up. Having said that, the last time Mayers and Bonner were in the subcontinent they did kind of alright.

Establishing the best decade for cricket: Finding the ATG XI from 12 decades of test cricket - then having a KO tourney to decide the best

I came very late to this party, but just wanted to mention that the best-averaging opener of the 1990s was John Wright!! 1660 runs at 55... I pick Waugh M as the last player, batting at 5 ahead of his brother.

Establishing the best decade for cricket: Finding the ATG XI from 12 decades of test cricket - then having a KO tourney to decide the best

Sobers (1200 @ 52 in the decade. Throw in 900+ at 56 for the RoW in England and Australia and he's hard to go past for the batting allrounder spot....) Knott Botham

Establishing the best decade for cricket: Finding the ATG XI from 12 decades of test cricket - then having a KO tourney to decide the best

Zaheer's average at the end of 1979 was below 40 so if performances in the decade matter more than overall record, I think it's Lloyd (or Javed if Lloyd gets the 5 spot) or an allrounder...

Establishing the best decade for cricket: Finding the ATG XI from 12 decades of test cricket - then having a KO tourney to decide the best

Chappell G Javed Miandad Chandrasekhar (Spinner is a tough one. Any of Bedi, Chandra, Gibbs, Underwood, even Mallett would be good)

Averaging 35 will be accepted again

Ok, I went looking and picked three decent-to-good test players from around Manjrekar's era to check first : Sidhu, Shastri and Ganguly. All have first class averages of 44.

Averaging 35 will be accepted again

Manjrekar's test career WAS a failure given his overall first class average was about 55. His non-test-match first class average was 62.6. It's probably better than Hick, Bevan and Ramprakash, but it must be one of the highest drop-offs from non-test-match to test match average.

Averaging 35 will be accepted again

More random stats.... Currently there are 5 players with 1000+ career runs and a 50+ average (Marnus + "big 4") Another 5 averaging 45-50 (Warner, Rohit, Taylor, Pujara, Agarwal). And 7 more averaging 40-45. The 20th best average for players with 1000+ runs is Markram at 39.7 Go back 10...

    *Official* Second Test at Lord's - Aug 12-16 2021

Assuming England eventually get the last two wickets, anyone for batting Bairstow, Buttler and Moeen at 1, 2, 3??

    *Official* Second Test at Lord's - Aug 12-16 2021

Given the ball hasn't swung and they survived Anderson's seam movement intact, being 55-3 is not a great morning's work...
