    Bits and pieces players

My definition of bits and pieces player is one who is picked for both batting and bowling but isn't expected to be all that good at either. My archetypal bits and pieces player would be Darren Sammy. I don't think at any point when he was selected did the selectors expect him to average 30+...

    ***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

To be fair to NZ, last time Bangladesh toured, there were three scheduled tests which pretty much no-one else has done for Bangladesh. The first two were won by an innings and we all thought "why bother with a third". The third test never happened because of the Christchurch mosque massacres.

    4th Test at Sydney (?) - Jan 5-9 2022

After Bangladesh's win today surely England have to believe anything is possible. Must give them some heart.

Wow. That was quick. Even last night I thought NZ would get out of this somehow. But the two catches today (by a quick bowler and a spinner 12th man) just summed it up. To win this game they had to play 4 days of good, hard, patient, skilful test cricket and they were able to do that...

He's hit Taylor, did Conway for pace, and hurried up Young, one aerial edge evading third slip.

If Liton had caught either of Young's edges, I'd almost have Bangladesh as favourites. They've got what you need for a flat pitch baking in the sun - a spinner getting some bounce and a genuinely quick bowler....

Occasionally Southee bowls and I wonder how on earth he's got 300 wickets at 28. Seems so floaty and slow... His current new ball spell is one of these times...

It doesn't help that the line isn't perfectly straight or uniform width.

Four sloppy wickets given away suggests NZ are a bit rusty. I expect their bowlers to be less rusty however, so the market looks about right...

Blundell will be happy they've taken the new ball based on those few balls against "spin"

    4th Test at Sydney (?) - Jan 5-9 2022

Not being a follower of the Australian domestic scene, how is it that Patterson isn't in the picture? Is he going to end up with a test average of 144?

Yes, I think very few people would pick Boycott ahead of Sutcliffe in their England all time side...

I'd like to see a side-on replay of that again - it looked like a no-ball....
